What is this? - A wiring harness that goes in place of the factory one to illuminate the sidebar of the tail lamp. This gets activated when pressing the unlock button, but not with the brakes!

I have included the write up of this Korean gem so we have one in English.

That's a creative mod and a less invasive solution than just jumping the harness at the connector.

If I'm reading this correctly, prior to the mod, that light strip only lights up when the doors are unlocked? Never noticed that.
Cool/clean upgrade.

I was looking at getting this but was wondering a few things. The Light bar that gets illuminated is the "parking" light, and comes on when you turn on the parking lights or headlights. When you apply the brakes, with this mod, is the light bar the brightness of the parking light? Or is it brighter like it would be for a brake light?

Good question, otherwise it's benefits would only really be seen during day light hrs, since that verticle led would be illuminated at night already anyway with the headlights/taillights. Once the harness is switched, do these verticle leds still function as regular taillights, when not braking, or is their function and illumination only activated by braking? If their role is switched entirely, then I think the stock set up is better.

I found this video on them and it looks like they only go to the parking light brightness. The vertical lights also seem to function normally in all other modes, they just additionally illuminate during braking (and don’t do anything more if the lights are already on).

Nice find, thanks for the additional info. I think I will just stick to the stock set up. I like the look of the 4 square led brake lights in the day, and full leds at night. I can see where the visibility would be improved substantially with the wiring harness replacement though during daylight hrs.

Yes, I hi needs that extra led on during braking only. I actually have that light on , even in daytime by setting the headlight switch one back from the full headlight in position. I prefer to run with the tail light and led dry on , without the low beams on during the day and I switch it manually on when I want to illuminate the road at dusk. Auto works great but only keeps front dry on and no tail light during the day unless very cloudy and dark . Just my preference. I do like the bright front dark vertical band that you can have on during the day, wish I could have this on bright even with low beam on, if they come out with a Barnes for that , I am getting that.

Does anyone know if this is for Limited/Ultimate Trim only?

Wondering if it will work for Canada's Luxury Trim.

I've never seen this issue with the harness installed or before. There's no need for a resistor. The flash module may be defective if you are experiencing hyper flashing.

No I am asking if I put the harness on will the hyper flashing stop I have a 2020 palisade luxury that didn’t come with led tail lights I put the fancy lights that comes with the higher model on my car that’s why it’s hyper flashing

You need to add some inline resistors to your LED lights. It's flashing because it thinks the bulb is burnt out due to the low current draw of the leds vs the halogens you replaced.

That would be great if it lit up whenever the engine was running. As long as it's not brighter than brake lights though. That way you could see if the car started when using the remote fob to start it.

Thanks for the write up super helpful knowing what you're getting into! I do have two pieces of advice having just installed mine though I ordered from shark racing. First, there's no need to use the painter's tape to keep the light from breaking, imo. You just need to remove the screws and gently rock while pulling directly rear(similar to the door panels when pulling up) just ensure you rehook the tab front-most when reinstalling. Second, not sure if just my vehicle but I had to install inline with the current part because the OEM part did not have two clips only one to attach to the light housing. One last thing, IT WILL ONLY LIGHT THE LEDs WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS PRESSED, not mad about it just want everyone to have it crystal clear as prior to install I had read that it will light when using remote start(will not, tried) as well as lock/unlock(shows one block like usual). So far as I have found, it acts solely upon the brake lights themselves being activated(crystal clear lol) anyone wondering if some other light combo will work just ask and I'll give it a go for you but well worth the safety addition alone imo!

Agree the tape is unnecessary additional precaution since I just had it ceramic coated. :) The way you explain the functioning of the lights is accurate and apologies if the words I attempted to relay were inaccurate.

No fault on your end, I apologize, the light functions I mentioned were from around the grape vine. Thanks again SuperSnake!
