I'd like to have a spare that allows full highway speeds without a distance limitation. We had a flat in the vicinity of Lybrook, NM last January (friggin' cold out) 61 miles from Farmington, NM and 122 from Albuquerque. Nothing there would have had a tire and because of where the large puncture was, the tire could not be repaired. Cuba was ahead at around 40 miles but, again, there would be no tire there. We pressed on cautiously and barely made it to ABQ in time to get the Hyundai dealer to change the tire just before closing. And we still had to continue on to Santa Fe.

So, JRinFL, I saw your post in another, older thread. What size tire and rim are you using? I don't care if I have a smaller rim with a larger aspect ratio as long as the wheel/tire combination is the same diameter as OEM.

Anyone else have any suggestions?

As you mentioned you will want to get a skinnier wheel and tire combination (higher aspect ratio) that is close as possible to the OEM size on your vehicle. Since I don't know what your current tire size is, you will need to post it.

Or you can use the following tire size calculator and try some tires with a higher aspect ratio:

You can probably find a used rim on eBay that was made for the Palisade, or try an online junk yard.

You could use 245/60 R18, which is the tire size for the SEL trim level. Just buy an 18" wheel that fits the Palisade.
