Has any one else had an issue with their windshield wipers coming on for one wipe when in auto on a completely dry day? I've had a limited that I bought on july 18th that if I have the wipers in auto on a totally dry day they wipe one time and it can be anywhere from 10 minutes to 30 minutes apart with no rhyme or reason. I live in Reno (very dry climate) and we spent a few weeks in Phoenix also very dry. I haven't told the dealer yet since we just got back home. Just wondering if any one else has experienced this.

It hasn't happened yet (knock on wood), however I had a 2011 Genesis Premium Nav trim that had Auto wipers, I had experienced the wipers turning itself on with no rain or a cloud in the sky. It would occur on occasion but NOT very often. I'm not sure if it was bcuz the sensitivity setting knob on the wiper stem was set to high. I had adjusted the knob and it went away.....it could be the problem....try it and see if it works for you

Happens to me periodically. Not the end of the world, but definitely weird.

Yea I've tried turning down the wipers but that didn't make any difference. Like you said not end of world but I would rather it doesn't happen.

Happens about 1 time per week on my Limited. I chalked it up to the high humidity in Arkansas but sounds like humidity isn't the issue for others experiencing the same problem. Definitely weird!

Southern California, ultra dry conditions! This has already happened with my new Limited at least 5 times in under 200 miles. Looks like this is a problem for Hyundai to address.

Yes! I'm in San Diego and I feel like lately they auto wipe once every time I drive now. It's weird. I have a Limited.

There are a lot of people complaining about the Palisade and frankly I’m tired of it. The only known issues so far have been:

1) Vibrating driveshaft
2) Automatic wipers that come on with no rain
3) Chipping/cracking windshield
4) Excessive wind noise on the highway
5) HVAC screen that scratches easily
6) Blindspot warning system failure
7) Squeaking seat rails
8) Satin chrome trim that shows fingerprints (shame the door handles are made of this material)
9) And only 1 recall for the airbags

And some people have complained about the lack of folding mirrors. Get over it people....the vehicle is nearly perfect....except for those 9 things. Oh and recently there’s been some engine, transmission and A/C compressor failures. But besides that.....ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!

I just turned over 500 miles today. Love it, but bought it because it was so high on raters' lists, and found this forum, and (not really) feel like I'm in a ticking time bomb--but yay I have FWD and not great hearing, and have never had automatic folding mirrors (well--a switch on the x5) so hopefully I'm good. Happy about that Allstate bonus $500 though!

You don’t even own a Palisade any longer. You’re tired of it? Leave the forum. Problem solved. Bye bye.

Julia, ignore CVP33. He is known for wildly exaggerating the issues with the Palisade. He doesn’t even own one anymore.

Are there issues with some? Yes. Just like every other car and manufacturer our there, they’re not all built equal. Sometimes, people get unlucky and get a bad one from the lot. That;s the case with him.

That doesn’t mean that there is a bunch of design issues with these. There’s really only one that seems to affect a lot of the Palisades (though not all): wind noise. Whatever else is listed in his post are one-offs or his personal experience.

Keep in mind that people who never have a problem don’t necessarily post on forums. People with issues tend to post. It’s common to all car forums. Just keep that in mind when reading these forums: Hyundai has sold over 60K Palisades (probably more, I stopped keeping track) in the US. You don’t see 60K people complaining about their cars on forums. It’s all matter of perspective: this forum is a very tiny slice of owners, not statistically representative of all owners.

I have zero problems with mine. Not even wind noise. I know others won’t don’t either. Just enjoy your car and don’t worry about it.

Frankly, I never liked or saw a need to have auto wipers and any vehicle I’ve owned I didn’t use it. The only auto feature I like are headlights. But if it was me and I had this issue I’d bring it in to get looked at. I hate fiddly problems like that lol.

Eric, thank you so much! I just love my car! Thanks for taking the time to write all this--I TRULY appreciate it! Yes, I'll just enjoy the heck out of my new car--which I am... I got EXACTLY what I wanted.

Again, I truly appreciate that you took the time to put the "myriad of issues" into perspective!

Typically, I've found false alarms when it's otherwise dry to be due to flashes of direct sunlight or reflections from other things hitting (and confusing) the sensor. Could have just been a coincidence.

If you really want to never be annoyed, best practice is to leave your wipers off when you're not actually needing them. The real benefit of auto wipers is to not have to constantly regulate their speed when steady rain intensifies and lightens up seemingly every minute. I don't think it's that big of an inconvenience to turn them off when the rain is over and then back on when actually needed again.
