My Palisade
2021 Palisade Calligraphy
As I mentioned in the other thread on "wind noise", Lexus and several other manufacturers have installed "fins" on most of their vehicles around the Mirror mounting points. this breaks up the wind vortices that are created between the mirror and window/body that causes excessive noise and for me an issue when traveling at highway speeds where I could not rollup the windows as they would bow out and miss the track.

I found these on ebay, ordered them, then used the measurements on my wife's Camry to apply them to the Palisade.

using the decibel meter on my apple watch I did a before and after test at highway speeds, I stuck the watch directly on the triangle at the window corner. DB readings without fins was 52-58 decibels, after installing the fins the reading, same highway same speed, was 48db basically a 10db drop.

While I didn't notice any wind noise that bothered me, I could absolutely tell the vehicle was a lot quieter after installing these.

additionally at 90mph I had no issue rolling up my windows. something that I was having issue with above 70mph.

here is the ebay link if anyone wants to try,

I mounted them this way:

bottom = 1.5 inches up and directly on the edge of the triangle
top = 1.5 inches above the bottom and 1 inch in from the edge of the triangle.

*********Clean the area with rubbing alcohol before applying, and apply in warmer temps above 70°, ore heat the application area with a hairdryer or heat gun lightly before applying if doing in cold weather*********

two questions - looks like its only in black, what color is your vehicle...hard to tell from the photo. But filling in their own search criteria, it says not compatible with a 2020 Palisade SEL

yes only in black, not an issue for me as the triangle is black. my truck is Silver.

as far as their compatibility they are shiny rubber stickers, they will stick to any vehicle. and if you need to move them, just buy some extra (automotive) 3m double sided tape.

also it comes with 6 fins, 2 round things and 2 rectangular things, I didn't try those, the fins are what I have and on my Lexus', BMW, Mercedes, and even my G80, all are there to disrupt the airflow between the windows/body and the mirror that causes the noise and window issues.

Lexus figured this out 10 years ago, and even put out a TSB and replacement parts for older vehicles that replaced that corner triangle with a part that had the fins molded in. I wish Hyundai would get with the program. These fins appear on many vehicles because they actually work.

It looks like they have not updated their compatibility list past 2018 models on any brand, but not 100% sure.

What are those black pieces directly under the outside mirror? Are they present on the SE and other Palisade models without folding mirrors?

To the credit of Lexus,at least they came up with something. Hyundai just blows their owners off, they are working on it...yeah right.

All palisade have manual folding mirrors as far as I know.

The calligraphy mirrors are two-tone. Black base color matched shroud.

those black pieces are the mirror stand offs.

compatibility lists are fine for vehicle specific parts, these are universal as you can see they fit on my 2021, there is no difference between a 2020 and 2020 Palisade at any trim level when it comes to these. the Mirrors and mount locations are identical.

These are universal, will work on any vehicle., and they do what they are advertised to do.

Was waiting for someone to try this.
Bonkers this is what we have to resort to.

Did you hear the wind at the top of your door or the sill? Mine is at the top for example.... I'm going to have to try these.

Yes it is quite a show..buy a new ride...then buy and install foam rope..and all this other crap to fix it.
Then the windshield cracks if a bird takes a dump on it...lol

personally I never heard much noise, or at least at a level that bothered me, but I did actively notice that with these the cabin was quieter.

my issue was not being able to roll up the windows at highway speed, it is very rare I drive with my windows up, but if I get a phone call I need to roll them up to take it, and at 70mph my windows would not go into the track due to the wind turbulence.

not uncommon for the first model year of a redesigned or a new model vehicle,, car makers use the public as their beta testers to work out the bugs, one of the reasons I went for the 2021 over the 2020. If I had another year on my G80 lease I would have opted for a 2022 knowing that even more bugger would have been worked out by then

I just ordered a set. For $5 its a gamble I'm willing to take if it helps with the wind noise.

Thin glass...too much slack.

agreed, but so far this simple $5 solution has worked I am able to roll up the windows at 90+ without issue. before it was a struggle at 50mph.

Hey, did you play with the locations, or that was your first try? And do you know what was the 'fix' for 2021 Calligraphy models? Wondering if that might help the one I'll buy later this week. Thank you.

There is a TSB out which apparently applies to 2020 models during certain build dates, my build date is January 2021 but the issue is still apparent to a minor degree.

as far as the location, as stated, I used my wife's Camry as base since it has them, and adjusted the locations based on that.

the Palisade area is slightly larger, so I adjusted accordingly. I haven't moved them since the original install 2 months ago. the whistle is gone and the windows will properly roll up at 90mph. Both issues were persistent until I did this.
