Wind noise and buffering in Hyundai Palisade

I just got a new Palisade. When i test drove another palisade before buying this unit, i did not hear much road noise through driver window.

But in this Palisade when i dive >40 MPH it feels like air trying to gush in type of road noise. Is this normal?
I am having this problem and the dealer has been absolutely no help. My neighbor bought one too. It helps to have the recycle air button on.

Wind noise is ridiculous. Have called the dealer twice and they have had no other complaints. Glad to find this forum because everyone in my car hears the incessant whistling and terrible noise.

Has anyone find a fix? I have taken my car in three times to see if they can fix it and have no luck!! It’s super annoying. Also does anyone have a black spot at night from the head lights on the left side?

My black spot is more in the middle.

Whats the update on the Wind noise , how did it go with the Hyundai Tech ? Very anxious to know if this issues been resolved .

A Hyundai Tech Specialist came out to the dealership and drove the car for 2 days. They ended up ordering all new window door seals but they will not be in until the end of November. We are back to driving it with annoying wind and whistle noise. I’m not confident they know what’s going on or that replacing all of them will fix the issue, but time will tell.

Not going to our dealer until there's a formal TSB in place. Confident that you'll get to the root cause.

We are experiencing the same problem with our new Palisade; however, we noticed the wind noise reduced drastically when the air recirculation button was turned on. This may diagnose the problem as a bad seal around a damper in lieu of a bad door seal though one may effect the other.

Can you please share your experience now? Is it still good for you after the fix by Hyundai?

So I finally got my car back from Don Franklin Hyundai in Lexington KY. They said they fixed it and so far 78mph and one hour into the drive the whistle noise is gone. He said that it was the metal plate in between the door seals was pressed too right so no air could be released. He had to move it so air could get thru. The fix is logged on Hyundai computer so people should be able to go to their dealerships now with a fix. You still here some normal wind noise but nothing like before. It’s almost too quiet in here now. Lol

The noise finally annoyed my wife to the point I got tasked with troubleshooting it again last night. After an hour and a half of taping the outside and making several runs on the highway without any success I turned my attention to the door panel. Ended up finding a gap where the vertical window seal (green) meets the horizontal window track seal (red); the yellow circled area. A small gap here was responsible for my loud wind noise and whistle.

To isolate this spot I simply tucked a piece of weatherstripping (got a 20’ piece from Lowe’s for $3) into the gap between the door panel and window. A picture of the seal and where to install it is attached. Note the seal I bought was white but I can only find the black version on Lowe’s website, it’s the same 3/8” round seal though.

To access these window seals I had to remove the door panel which is held on by one screw through the door handle. Ended up putting a piece of foam weatherstripping between the two to seal the gap and stop the noise. The door panel pinches the seal in this area so it shouldn’t open back up anytime soon. Always sucks working on a car that’s under warranty but good news is I dont have to drop it off at the dealership again.

Best of luck to those dealing with a similar wind noise and I hope this helps those with the same.

Is anybody else experiencing a very loud wind noise on the driver side of the car at higher speeds. Mine is so loud it hurts my ears. I am going to take it to the dealer, but wondered if anyone else was experiencing it or took it into the dealer.

I had the same problem with my Palisade, and it's only on the driver side. It is a high whistling sound that hurt my ears. It is currently at the dealership where they replaced the window seal, which didn't help, and are going to tape the car up and drive it. Then remove a piece of the tape until they find out what is causing the problem.

So.. now that it's been a couple weeks- is the fix working?

Just dropped my Ultimate off at the dealership and they are going to try this method of repair. I’ll let you know how it turns out later today.

Also filed a notice. My noise starts at 25mph with a whistle and most other times just sounds like the door is not quite closed.

Sounds like we have some momentum going now. If anyone finds out there is an official Service Bulletin released, please let us know.

So here's the write up of the work order to try to repair the wind noise. Have to admit it's better but certainly not 100% fixed. The service tech said they have had more complaints about the noise and that Hyundai Canada is working on a solution. The drama continues !!

Mine is also experiencing the wind noise issue. As others have noted, by applying pressure to inside door panel, noise is reduced or stops, but can't drive that way for long distances. It gets very annoying and bothersome. Spoke to my dealer today about it and they looked at it for loose weatherstripping. Said that Hyundai should come out with TSB on it. Hoping a fix is found soon. Love my vehicle, hate the noise.

we just picked up our limited awd on saturday. we had previously test drove a SEL that had the wind/whistle that was very loud and annoying. our limited does not have it at all. drove 200 miles yesterday a mixture of mountain and freeway driving up to 80mph with no noise. we are happy about that.

LUCKY YOU! We have a Limited and the whistle can get LOUD... and even when it's just a milder air leak (sounds like the window is slightly open, though it's not), it is annoying... I hope they solve this. Very frustrating, especially for $50K.
