My Palisade
'21 Limited FWD - Burgundy
Hello all,

I have an unusual situation that I thought I'd share. I'll try to get to the point for the TL;DR crowd.

  1. Convinced spouse to trade our 2012 Toyota Sienna Limited for a Pal
  2. Spouse only wanted a Moonlight Cloud
  3. Found an ultra-low mileage used 2020 SEL Premium in Moonlight cloud on 4/5/21
  4. Wife decides it's not for her, wants something else
  5. Buy wife an Expedition Max Limited on 5/3/21, she's happy
  6. Trade the 2020 SEL in on an 2021 Limited in Burgundy for me on 5/7/21
  7. Hyundai Motor Finance must think we're crazy
  8. Three negotiations/doc signings in a little over a month, one used and two brand new
  9. I'm exhausted, and broke!

Cheers,

Rick

Sounds like rich people problems lol. Quite a difference between a Palisade and an Expedition Max. I like my Palisade, but I’d rather have the Max too lol.

I used to have a 2018 F-150 Platinum crew-cab, which is pretty much an Expedition Max, I believe (or maybe it's even longer, like the F-150 crew-cab with the 6-1/2' bed?), and even though they're RWD based, and more powerful than the Pali, it didn't drive anywhere as nice. I personally don't want anything larger than the Pali, which I consider a whale, even though it's supposedly a mid-size ute. But if you really need the space, that's why people buy them. But man, you have to pay at the pump. I was surprised to get exactly 25 MPG on my trip back home from picking up the Pali at elevated highway speeds, where the F-150 gave me like 13 MPG with the 3.5EB. And worst of all, it didn't like regular fuel, even though it's supposed to be fine with it.

Happy driving. I hope you're both happy with your new rigs.

Only 25mpg? I have the AWD and my average coming from AZ to CA was 27mpg and I am averaging 24mpg now with mix of city/highway.

But it was very windy (with a head wind), 80-90, and I was downshifting to 7th (and even 6th) often, due to break-in. No way your AWD could do that. Ha ha. It's 2 MPGs less than mine :).

Yup, all about how you drive it. Just took a 240 mile Drive for work, Averaged 31mpg For that tank full, I drive like a grandpa. 60mph in eco mode the whole way, keep my slow butt in the right lane with HDA engaged and let the vehicle do its thing.

Hell I used to get 27mpg average in my RC-F. I would occasionally open it up and it would drop to like 15mpg.

What I was amazed is my Pali is rated at 19/26, so it's quite obvious it does much better than that at more sane speeds. And after the engine breaks in. My 2018 F-150 Platinum 3.5EB was rated at 17/24, and never got even close to 17 on the highway.

Hyundai got sued big time a few years back for highly overstating their MPG, since then they under-rate All their vehicles. I got 2-3mpg better than stated in my G80 as well.

Oh yeah; I remember getting a check for a 2012 Tucson I used to own. But after the lawyers, we owners didn't get much. Ha ha.
