Hey gang, I've never renewed any of the numerous SiriusXM trials before, in part because I don't drive much, but the main reason is once you give them your personal info, they'd only not leave you alone with incessant spam, but have heard they just don't take NO for an answer when you want to cancel the damn subscription. Is that true? I'd probably not renew after that extension anyway, but curious if somebody here took advantage of that offer, and canceled after it was over, so you can tell us how hard was to do that. I think the only way to cancel is by calling, since they don't activate canceling from their website (logging into your account). Any info you could provide would be greatly appreciated :). By the way, my trail expires August 01. Thank you.

Yes, they can be hard to shake. With so much free internet radio from a variety of sources I don’t mess with them or the expense anymore personally, but used to quite a bit years ago. However they do haggle a lot on the phone. In the past I’ve played the old “yea I’m thinking of renewing” thing and when they give you full price you just tell em naw it’s way too much and they can come way down off it. I remember a long time ago I did that by phone and then told them I’d pay by check because I don’t use credit cards🙄 and they sent a bill (which worked well because they couldn’t auto renew/bill when it expired). Not sure if they still do that or not. The last time I had anything to do with them I purchased their prepaid cards and used those to pay. I believe I bought them at Best Buy or something similar. I didn’t want them having my credit card on file either because I didn’t want any auto renewal (which they’ll do at their normal price). When the subscription period ending it would usually stay on for a week or two before you’d lose their signal. They also usually run offers for 6 months at a decent rate that you can do then wait for another such email when it expires and rinse and repeat. In any event, no matter what you do I wouldn’t pay by credit or debit. I’d use their prepaid cards or at least a reloadable prepaid Visa or something. That way they can’t just up and charge you. By the way anytime I ever called them it was clearly an Indian call center so yea, they push hard to sell. Hope any of this helps.

For some reason my above post got duplicated and I couldn’t delete it…

Yea that’s pretty much the jam. Call, haggle and never pay with your card. Good to know they still accept checks though.

Thanks guys. Yeah, they say a credit card is required for that offer. And obviously they'd get all of your contact info as well, so they can pester you with offers and crap. And my main concern is precisely giving them my c/c. And their other tactic I HATE is their auto-renew crap. As far as a check, I don't think it'd work for anything other than paying for a full year. If I want to do the $2 deal, I'd have to buy one of those pre-paid c/c (thanks for that idea). By the way, they also sent a $5/mo offer (for 1 year), but it's not the 'all-access' package; it's the 'select' one, so not sure which channels it includes. I only listen to a handful of them, so will check which package has them. Thanks again for the help :).

For years I have only paid by check...used to be six months at a time..but last renewal was for full year..the send me invoice...I send check..
Would never give cc ..

I’m sure there’s fine print in some of their “specials” that say you must enroll in auto pay and use a credit card. But like Steelers said you can usually get other deals, or just them dropping the cost a bit. For me though there’d be no deal worth dropping my credit card with them. If you don’t want to deal with them by phone than just buy their gift cards and go online and order something. The very last time I used them that’s what I did for some 6 month plan I got an email about.

But to buy their gift cards, you need to drop your credit card, no? Ha ha. I'd just buy a pre-paid c/c, but never done it before, so would have to look into that. If the minimum is like $50, I wouldn't do it. At any rate, it looks like a lot of aggravation, so will most likely just let the trial expire, like I've done for decades on all my other vehicles :).

You buy them like you buy any gift card at a store. Pay however you want.

I always call before my deal is to expire and get around $60 per year (I get whatever package that doesn’t include Stern—don’t need that). I appreciate the service, but will not pay more than $60 per year for it.

Yeah, I never listen to that guy either. The package that excludes him, and other crap I'm not interested in either, is called 'select', and I also received an offer for that for $5 a month, for a year, which is the $60 you're talking about (plus 'taxes and fees'). I really doubt I'd extend beyond the $2 offer (which I did yesterday), but that's exactly what I'd shoot for as well. By the way, I found a c/c with a balance of $2.33 (leftover of the 'stimulus' I received, of about $25), so used it cover the $2.14 that will be charged on August 01. Hopefully the charge will go thru. If I decide to continue, I'd have to buy a pre-paid c/c, or send a money order. With a personal check, they could debit my bank account nowadays, so I wouldn't trust that either. Ha ha.
