So my wife just bought a Tucson Hybrid. (Yeah it’s great….we’re now a 2 Hyundai family!). So I noticed her car has four more parking/collision sensors on it than my PAli’s are LTE….one each on the side corner of the front and back bumpers. But the collision warning graphics on the cluster look identical to my Palisade, which doesn’t have these side corner sensors.

So does anyone know what those extra sensors do, and why they’re not on the Palisade? (Or if they are on the Palisade, and I just don’t see them, where are they?)

Thanks!

Those typically are for 'park assist', to look for empty parking spaces. My Calligraphy doesn't have them either, so normal.

Ignore what @elp_jc said, he's generally clueless.

There are 4 parking sensors on the front of the Palisade and 4 on the back. Not sure why you're not seeing them. They're round and embedded in the bumpers, except for the 2 center ones at the front, which are at the bottom of the grille (note: the front ones are not available on the SE trim level).

No I see the four on the front and the back of the Palisade. I was asking about the four EXTRA ones on the Tucson that are on the sides of the bumpers, front and back. I wasn’t sure if they did something for the Tucson that isn’t available on the Palisade.

It presumably is related to the smart parking system (smahht paaak) that’s on the Tucson (presumably yours has that?). The current Palisade does not have that feature.

If you look at a 2023 Palisade Calligraphy, you’ll see the same extra sensors on the front side of the bumper.

@elp_jc was surprisingly on the ball with this one. 😉

Ah. That’s the thing that pulls the car out via the key fob when you’re not in it?

That feature scares the crap outta me, quite frankly.

Ah makes sense.

@elp_jc said it looks for empty parking spaces, which is not the same thing as Smahht Paaak.
