Wind noise and buffering in Hyundai Palisade

My sister in law and I both have a Limited AWD. My build date was 11/29/19. I don’t know when hers was but she just got hers a couple weeks ago. Neither one of us have issues with the whistling noise. Though every now and then I feel like I hear wind coming thru near the B pillar but it’s not all the time. The road noise and when cars pass sometimes seems a bit loud but nothing that bothers me too much. Sorry to hear so many people have this horrible wind and whistling noise. Hopefully Hyundai can come out with a permanent fix for everyone soon. Love my Palisade!
I got one of the very first ones to hit the dealership, but the beginning of July... I have had a new seal new trim by the B pillar it’s so bad on windy days I hate to drive it. Hoping Hyundai contacts me back soon with a solution

My build is also November. Ours has always had foam wedged in the window channel closest to the side mirror. I wonder if yours does too. You might have the issue and not even know it, because they masked it with the foam TSB at the port of entry. I hope that is not the case, but 🤷‍♂️ I will take some pics when I get home later, so you can see what to look for.

Have they tried the foam fix on yours too. I am scared to take it out of mine at this point, however I also want a permanent fix when one is finally found and made available.

You can hear the air coming through the upper part of the window closet to the B pillar, my son can’t stand to ride with me in the passenger seat because it’s so loud

I don’t know if there will be a permanent fix, I’m thinking it’s a design flaw... mine has been in service department now enough times to file Lemon law...

I wonder what makes these cars so different? They all have the

I checked before and I don’t have the foam piece in my window channel.

Imo anything can be fixed...it may come down to money...for example..if the issue is caused because the glass is too thin or not shaped correctly ...Hyundai may not want to replace all of the glass...not saying the window glass is the problem..just saying ..its all about money at the end of the day.

They have been replacing glass and the side mirror, all though I don’t see the mirror being the cause. I think it has to do with the way the trim is and open space where the wind is coming in

Oh...I just took another look at mine and I guess I do have the foam! I think I was looking at the wrong angle.

Unless the mirror is letting air into the door through the stalk, which is then coming up through the seals.

So now we know what the Dealer Prep.charge is...sticking a sponge in the window ...lol

Almost seems like they need to reconstruct and then stockpile full doors to resolve this issue for everyone. Then unbolt, remove, and place the new doors on. Yes, the entry point of your wind noise is much different than mine.

It can even double as a handy dish aid if needed in a pinch. 😂
I think that was actually part of the first TSB. Hyundai finally decided to start correcting at the port of entry. I doubt they even drove all of them. It was probably an immediate procedure whether needed or not. An effort to mask the sound so buyers were none the wiser.

Exactly, and in the 3 row suv segment, they can't afford to screw such a high sales volume product up. There is already a huge chatter on this issue. I searched though, Kia is having the same issues with the Telluride. Bottom line is they can't continue selling a defective product for the full life of the model. Which is typically 4-5 years. Maybe the 2021 doors will be redesigned or something, and then they can be retrofitted to the 2020s. Or whatever they find the fix to be.

Exactly what I think, unless they are replacing mirrors with a completely different shape for aerodynamic purposes, but I don't think that is the case. I am not even sure how a solid mirror could be allowing wind to penetrate the door sills anyway.
