I'm a 20+ year Auto repair industry vet in the DC Maryland Virginia area.
I was not planning to purchase a car but it all started when me and my wife dropped off our Lexus to the dealer for the air bag recall.
We were given a 2020 RX450H as a loaner for 2 days.
My wife fell in love with the car.
I drove it for a good 100+ miles but man that hybrid drivetrain and the lane keeping assist really bugged me for $60k+ car.
Lane keeping assist / adaptive cruise was horrendous and my god I almost peed my pants using it.
Hybrid version comes with a CVT tranny (stay away from cars with CVT) just because of that the car was off my list.
Powertrain was very clunky and yea I would say Prius does a better job there.
My wife never driven a hybrid vehicle and after her 50+ miles road test. She hated it. I knew deep inside if I let her drive the gas version, she would change her mind in a heart beat.
For the next few days after we dropped off our loaner car, my wife kept asking if we could trade in our Lexus for a bigger car. Mini van was her option #1 but I told her most mini van out there were refreshes and suggested SUV was the way to go theses days.
To make this story short we visited an auto park and had her test drive a lot of cars with a budget of 70k.
She fell in love with the Palisade (which saved me a bunch of money) and apparently my almost 3 year old daughter loves the car as well.
I've driven and worked on MANY MANY DIFFERENT cars during my profession and my god Hyundai really stepped up their game.
Gen 3 platform that was extended from a Santa Fe. Aluminum steering knuckle on a HYUNDAI???? and the list goes on and on.
In my honest opinion this car is under valued by at least $10,000. Stuff they used to build this car, you kinda see them on $50K+ range.
I've only driven the car for about 200 miles and wow I'm impressed. So much value for a car that starts at $35k+
