Calligraphy trim level in Korea.

Thought this was interesting. No word if it is coming to the US yet.
Actually, if you read carefully, they're adding 2 trim levels: Calligraphy and VIP.

The VIN decoder filed with the NHTSA in the US now has a digit for the Calligraphy trim level, according to this article: https://www.autoguide.com/auto-news...ill-gain-more-luxurious-calligraphy-trim.html

So maybe we'll get Calligraphy. Not necessarily VIP.

Oh, nice, wonder if the wind noise will be completely eliminated in that trim level, especially with the enhanced 2nd row entertainment.

Disregard, the rear entertainment is on the VIP trim.

Wonder if power fold mirrors will be standard equipment on the Calligraphy trim? Funny how the article says it gets different fog lamps, since the Limited doesn't include any. Rain Forest has been on the color palette since the Palisade was released.

I suspect they'll finally bring over the Korean spec headlights with the 3 LED projectors per lamp vs our current 2 LED version.

The North America laws limit the amount of lumens the headlights can produce. So I doubt that.

That'd require a different headlight design. They may do it, but it wouldn't be a repurpose of the Korean lights.
Wait, you mean they can't have the same 3 LED design and just change the internals and optics out for a different beam pattern?

This would qualify as a new headlight design. It may look similar on the outside, but would require a completely different projector assembly inside.

Fair enough. So you're basically saying it'll have a new part number.

Well yah, but it'd also require the engineering effort to design the specific sku as well product for the different interior optics. Maybe they have a parts bin fog light LED projector that would work with the design or they may have to do a completely new design. Just because it looks the same on the outside doesn't mean it's a trivial undertaking.

Unfortunately we are limited to 300m in the US versus the Euro spec headlights that can extend to 600m. Our headlights could be far better In the US, but regulation lags the industry technology by years.

The US "generally" has better street lighting than the rest of the world. When lights are too bright, the can blind oncoming traffic and cause accidents.

I’d add the second row center console if it’s possible and not ridiculously expensive
