You can’t have nice things with idiot drivers around. I was parked in a spot where no cars could park on either side or behind me, but of course some douchebag still manages to swipe my car! I believe it was this big truck with a red trailer that was in the same parking lot, but no evidence to prove it. Police said that even if he just drove by, unless I have witnesses or a video showing that, they can’t do anything. So mad! Luckily, there doesn’t seem to be a dent but the paint is definitely damaged. What should I use to remove the red paint? My husband used alcohol and it removed some of the red paint. The A-L-I are also stratched
 
The silver on the letters were scratched, so I need to get those replaced now.

First I’d make sure you have lots of photos. If you want to try and remove it yourself I’d first try a scratch remover and pad. Meguiars and other sell them. But honestly, if the scratch remover followed by some good wax doesnt sort it I’d take it to a professional detailer or body shop unless you have the tools and products to tackle it confidently yourself. It really depends how deep it went into the clear coat. Removing it might be one thing and then bringing the finish back to where it should be with a DA polisher, various cutting/polishing pads and the different products for these steps is another. It may need some cutting polish to get it out and then some lighter steps to remove any scratches and swirls from that process and followed by a wax. Personally, unless the repair is going to cost significantly more than your deductible I wouldn’t bother making an insurance claim.
 
sorry, but that dark area looks like all the white paint was removed. pretty sure insurance will push this as "collision" and not "comprehensive" since they'll claim a car did the damage.

Some white polish compound and a little time will clean it up some..go easy. Sorry to say,some areas the paint is gone.My quests $550 to paint plus new letters. Sorry but there is no shortage of fools in our world..
 
Yes. The areas that are black, the white paint is completely gone. Luckily, it doesn’t look like it is dented in though but still. Thanks everyone for your input. I hope this repair doesn’t cost me too much. So annoyed bc I was literally parked in a spot for 10 mins.

Comprehensive may cover it. Check to be sure.
 
You may have to argue for comprehensive. I had a similar issue where my car was hit and run in a parking lot. Insurance tried to say since I was hit by a car it falls under collision. I argued that the damage could have been caused by a pallet style shopping cart (Home Depot). It took me arguing it up to a supervisor, but they finally agreed to put it under comprehensive.
 
Hopefully they can put it under comp. The truck/trailer owner probably doesn’t even know he hit my car with his trailer.
