2021 Jumps on restart

Killing the engine and restarting at each stop is becoming annoying in my 2021.
Hot weather and it is constant off, on, off, on and car tries to lurch ahead unless foot on brake.
When light finally turns green, car does jump on start up. Any easy solution? Can it be
disabled? So far, I haven't found info in the user manual.

Hard to imagine anyone still putting up with that on off nonsense..
Look up my esy fix..takes 30 seconds and costs nothing...
 
You mean that professional fix of sticking a card next to the button to hold it down? :) I can do that. Thanks.

The engine does not turn off, it powers down to save fuel, I believe it drops down to 4 cinders or 2 at lights or full stops..it does not shut all the way down...so I don't understand your issue...It doesn't lurc h forward you're just feeling the powdr

I have been using that piece of a credit card next to the button for months now with no negative results. In my mind it is a lot better than taking apart the console to install some 3rd party piece of equipment.

Exactly...been well over a year and a half..no stop start crap....it's about the dumbest function I can imagine
And we all must pay for it..

The engine does shut off, and there is no using less cylinders on the Palisade.

Details? I wasn't overly annoyed with the stop-start in the Jeep Grand Cherokee I had for a week, and I don't recall it getting annoying in the couple of short Palisade test drives I've had, but the more you know...

The ONLY WAY it turns off is if you're mashing the brake pedal! Also....you GENIUSES KNOW THERES an auto disable feature for it right!

From what I've heard, the complaint is it has to be disabled every time you start the car. And I don't think anyone sees any good reason why we can't say, "Turn it off, and leave it off until I turn it back on again."

Because the MPG estimates for the car that Hyundai provides the EPA with are measured with this function on. Therefore it has to be on by default. Same reason Sport mode has to be selected every time.


To other commenters in this thread:

This system is the smoothest I've driven. I've experienced a horrible one in a Jeep where the engine never seemed to be on when I wanted it to. The Hyundai system is light years ahead. I don't even know it's there anymore.

I've never experienced it turning on and off multiple times at a light. If it does need to turn back on because it's getting hot inside, it stays on after that.

It can be modulated depending on how hard you press the brake pedal. A light press will keep it disengaged. And if you have a really hot day and can't stand 30s without AC (one wonders how you people walk outside if you can't withstand 30s without AC in a car that's already cool), then press the button to disable it for that drive.

It does save gas and, no, it doesn't add to the wear and tear of your engine: the starter, battery and other parts are designed for this function and not the same as cars without it.

To the OP, if your car is lurching that much, you might have an issue. Take it to your dealer. Mine is extremely smooth.

Who is complaining? Some folks like myself like the 8dea of turning a light off one time...not every day..

In what world do you turn a light off once and then never use it again? You only have a room with no lights or switches if you choose to make it that way. Every room gets dark, if you choose to walk around in the dark thats fine, but everyone shouldn't have to. Hence the lightswitch...which gives you the option whenever you enter the room.

Is it THAT HARD to hit a button when you start your car, or after you enter it?

My friend..there is a difference between HARD and ANNOYING...if you like the system as designed , fine.

You do understand that without it engaging automatically they can't claim the mileage figures they claim on the vehicle, which likely creates a domino effect of other EPA compliance issues, based on the horsepower and torque of the powerplant .. just sayin
 
I just shut it off every time I start the vehicle; not a big deal to me. But yes, it'd be better if it stayed off, but no new vehicle does that anymore, since EPA wouldn't credit them with the minuscule fuel savings (if any).

We could all drive with our windows closed to save a pint of gas also,and save the planet that China has polluted.
