Has anybody had a similar experience?

The collision avoidance came on unexpectedly on 2 occasions. First while turning left on the outside lane of a 2 lane turn. On this occasion it jerked the steering wheel and applied the brakes.

The second time was on a 4 lane highway and the system detected the vehicle 2 lanes over while I was changing lanes towards that vehicle. It acted similarly as the first situation. I notified my dealer and they told me to deactivate the system if I didn't like the way it works.

Thanks for any information.

My collision avoidance came on abruptly, fully and suddenly today.

I was gliding to a stop behind a car at a stop sign and the car was just starting to move forward through the intersection. I wasn't going fast and didn't get within 6 feet of the rear bumper (and it is moving away at this point) when the avoidance system suddenly activated the brakes fully, causing the car to jerk and buck (and ABS activated). I had it activate before on a car that was turning right and while that activation surprised me, it was brief and short before the system realized there was no imminent collision.

today's activation was really forceful, for no reason. Caught me by surprise and with the car jerking and bucking, anyone watching would have had a good laugh at the driver thinking "that dude can't drive!"

hahahaha

the system certainly isn't foolproof and it doesn't activate reliably. I just hope that it does activate if/when I ever truly need it.

I have over 6000 miles on my Limited and nothing like that has happened to me. I don’t think it’s normal, in fact, it sounds dangerous.
