controlling rear climate control

I have an SEL and I can seem to only control the rear climate control through the touchscreen infotainment. Down where the HVAC buttons are, when I press the "rear" button, I cannot use the HVAC buttons to control the rear settings. The only way I can control them is on the infotainment screen. This is incredibly annoying. Also, if I have the front and rear HVAC on and I want to turn off the front only, when I hit "off" it turns everything off. No way to just down off the front. Am I missing something?

It seems to be an idiosyncrasy with this car. I've developed the habit of reaching back to turn on the rear AC/heat or telling the little people to do it. I hope they can change it in a system update but I'm not holding my breath!

What's wrong with just controlling it on the screen? Seems like way less effort than reaching back and fumbling around for the controls.
