It seems like a lot of you on the forum did a lot of research before snagging your Palisade. Like many of you as well I was initially drawn to the Kia Telluride but I had to have captain's chairs for my 2nd row and I wasn't going to spring for an SX Telluride. My 6 1/2 year old dog who had an ACL surgery last summer and arthritis in both knees comes to work with me every day. I was coming from a Volvo XC60 T6 Momentum (I will miss it's speed/acceleration and 360 degree camera, not the sluggishness of the tablet entertainment system and lack of physical buttons) and needed a 3 row SUV for my family to grow into (I have 5 year old and 6 month old sons).
I test drove a VW Atlas and read every review I could get my hands on for the Palisade, Telluride, Atlas, Subar Ascent and a few others. I also watched 5-10 YouTube reviews of every car. I went to a dealership on Tuesday to see a Moonlight Cloud color SEL with convenience and premium package (I didn't want Driver Guidance) and naturally, they sold it the night before. We pivoted to the test model the GM of the dealership was driving, which had White Exterior and Black Leather in the SEL trim with the two packages but driver guidance, custom tint and 1600 miles. Once we sat down to talk numbers, the monthly payment was going to be too high (my Volvo was a staggering $710 per month but I got it before we knew we were having another baby and infant day care is $1600 per month!). While going back and forth I was on the dealer website and saw they had a car priced the same as the one I wanted but no window sticker or details on the packages. Lo and behold, it was an SEL with convenience and premium packages, no driver guidance and captain's chairs that had arrived last night and wasn't fully in the system yet.
We walked out to the garage where the newest arriving models are stored, it was Burgundy (not my preferred color) but had a light interior, which after coming from Black Leather on my Volvo, fit the bill. Because it was so new it took a bit longer to get the car ready, long after the deal was made, but everything else was quick. My salesman ordered me lunch, I ran into a friend (who hooked me up with a free LoJack) and was on my way. So far I am liking the space and my dog can easily lay down, the boys have plenty of room, and we are ready for family road trips!
