New trailer. Towed it 30 miles home, was 🄓 at the gas mileage. 11.6 mpg driving 65. Engine running between 2500-3200 RPMS.

Drove 30 miles home from dealer, 11.6 mpg 😫
Was driving 65, engine rpm’s between 2400-3200. Will figure out sweet spot eventually. Trailer weighs in at 3500 lbs. Will be around 3900 with our stuff. I weighed EVERYTHING, told the wife no rock collecting. (Lucille Ball in the long long trailer)

Looks like a great camper! Nice to see that you got your rig set up complete. Did you figure out a way to mount the female end of the 7 pin near the hitch sleeve? I do look forward to hearing future updates from you on what you find to be a good travelling speed for mileage and overall performance. I don't see any sag on the rear of the Palisade, so either you have the self-levelling Nivomat shocks or have WD bars in place, or both?

Load leveling by Equalizer… Curt receiver on Pslisade.

This is what i used.

My old trailer was 3300lbs it pulled it no problem, gas mileage sucks, but no different then my truck while it's pulling.

A huge trailer like that (frontal area) is an aerodynamic brick, so no way around the lousy mileage. Besides making sure all tires are properly inflated, there's not much else you can do other than to minimize the payload on both trailer and vehicle (as lightly loaded as possible). And use 'sport' mode, so the tranny never shifts to 8th, and downshifts are done sooner, to prevent lugging the engine. Good luck.

Was wondering about which drive mode would be best. Going to the lake camping for the weekend. Will try the sport mode, thanks for the input.

Mileage sounds about right....I would use SMART mode, it will switch as needed.

It doesn't really work unless you're really gunning the gas pedal. And it doesn't lock out 8th gear. To each his own, but sport mode is going to put the least stress on your drive-train when towing. Give it a try, and decide for yourself :).
