Gave the ride a good wash and wax last weekend and found a flaw in the paint. I'll have to schedule something with the dealership and see how it will be resolved.
Anyone else with the black paint have issues?

Is that clearcoat peeling? Or did you happen to leave a bird dropping on there? It’s hard to tell from the picture

It's below the clear coat. Totally smooth at the surface.

Ah ok. Let us know what the dealer does for you

I too have a black Plaisade and have found a small mark under the clear coat. I have not taken back to the dealer because of the COVID VIRUS. Not sure if I will just live with it. I also noticed that the paint gets surface scratches very easy, I know black is hard to upkeep but I think Hyundai went cheap, super cheap on our paint jobs and clear coat. I am thinking of getting a full wrap to better protect my investmen.

I wrapped the front end of my rainforest green. These new PPF films are pretty amazing. I had some bird droppings that I cleaned off after a day, and I could see the etchings of the dropping after I cleaned it off. The installer had told me to give the film a chance to self-heal before trying to use any rubbing compounds.

Without the PPF film, a bird dropping left to dry on the paint will leave a mark which you can see when viewed closely. Bird poop etches the paint. After a day in the sun and heat, the PPF actually self healed. I can't see the etching of the bird dropping so I won't need to hit it with any type of gently rubbing compound.

I have Suntek Ultra installed. I have 15 year old 3m film on another car, and there is NO WAY those old films would "self-heal." The new films they have nowadays are really amazing.

If I had a black car I would consider wrapping the entire car. I know black cars show every little scratch and as careful as anyone can be, it doesn't matter; a black car will start to show fine scratches over time. So you either have to get it detailed and polished out every so often, or maybe a full wrap of these new films would protect the paint from those fine scratches that really mar darker color cars.

Ask you local installers if the PPF films will drastically minimize the scratches that so easily show up on black cars.

i wish i had wrapped mine when i first got it, even had an appt set, but life happens and 5k miles later I have 2 chips on the hood I will have to fix before I can bra the hood
