Paint protection and interior protection

About to pick up my new Palisade Highlander, salesman tells me i would be mad not to get paint and interior protection, is this a must, would say i am worried about the light color leather and dash, any advice?

I assume this is some kind of protection the dealer is trying to sell you> If so, forget about it, it is a gigantic ripoff. Gigantic.

As far as paint protection, a good quality synthetic polymer car wax is usually fine, or some of the more advanced ceramic or hybrid ceramic car waxes. Avoid anything with carnauba wax, as it looks great but provides very little protection. You can buy these at any auto parts or discount stores and apply it yourself. The other option would be to apply some kind of clear plastic film covering to the paint, but that can get expensive depending on how much of the vehicle you want it applied to, and should best be applied by a professional. Contact a local tint shop, as they typically do these kinds of paint films in addition to window film.

For the interior leather I use Lexol Leather Cleaner and then apply Lexol Leather Conditioner. However the following product provides some additional UV protection for the leather if the leather is subject to direct sunlight:

If you park your vehicle in the sun very often, I would get a windshield sun shade. Search some other threads for specific brands that fit the Palisade.

It is never worth it to get paint protection from the dealer. It is usually higher priced and you are paying interest if you finance. I would suggest 3M or similar for the high risk areas like the front bumper and hood from a 3rd party as well as ceramic coating for the paint. Today's car leather is coated so cleaning is the best defence. You can put a protection on the interior but go 3rd party.
