Does anyone know of a way to automate the closing of the rear tailgate? It is wonderful that you can walk up to the car with your hands full but when you unload how the heck to you close the tailgate with your hands full? There should be a foot sensor. Bad design overall....

I don't know of any suv/cuv that has an automated closing function. I imagine that it's due to safety.

It sure wouldn't be fun to accidentally trigger that foot sensor and get a liftgate to the head.

I believe Hyundai is the only manufacturer without this feature. My 2019 Volvo XC60 has the foot sensor to open and close the rear lift gate.

BMW X7 has it. Plus you can program the key fob to do it.

My 2017 Honda CRV had the kick feature to open and close the tailgate. IMHO much better than the Hyundai/KIA method. You can use it when you take that large heavy item out of the back.

I definitely prefer the kick to open feature. I disabled the stand behind feature on my palisade

I stand corrected 💁‍♂️. With that being said, I am kind of surprised that Hyundai didn't include it. Usually, they're pretty on top of the tech game.

I think they tried to do something more convenient with the opening method with the "just stand there and it'll open" feature. The problem is that doesn't translate particularly well to closing. Only way I could see them making that work is if you pressed the close button and then it waiting until you left to actually close.
