Parking/Emergency brake question

So we have a 2021 Palisade Calligraphy edition and not always but quite often when we start it and I put it in drive, the Parking/Emergency brake is engaged. Is this because everyone in the vehicle does not have their set belt on or is something amiss? Anyone else had this happen?

So we have a 2021 Palisade Calligraphy edition and not always but quite often when we start it and I put it in drive, the Parking/Emergency brake is engaged. Is this because everyone in the vehicle does not have their set belt on or is something amiss? Anyone else had this happen?

The parking brake engages automatically if you’re on an incline or if you had auto hold on when you turned off the car.

It will disengage automatically when you have your seatbelt on, put the car in gear, and push the accelerator.
