So after test driving several SUVs I decided to choose the Palisade on technology, looks and price. It’s been several weeks since I test drove it, and to be honest, a lot of the cars run together in my mind when it came to a smooth ride. But none of them stood out as “rough” or “bumpy”. Fast-forward to today when I traded in my 2013 Mercedes ML350 for a new Palisade SEL AWD. The dealer didn’t have the exact car I wanted so he has to bring it in from another dealership. It will be here tomorrow. In the meantime, the dealer gave me a Palisade SEL FWD to drive. On my way home the top thing that stood out was how bumpy it was!!! How did I not notice this in the test drive??? I was crying by the time I got home with buyer’s remorse. I miss my Mercedes! 😭 Someone please tell me this loaner is just a fluke!

Maybe check the tire pressure.
The Palisades are shipped from Korea with a higher tire pressure for the boat ride.
So check that on the one you have. Then test drive the one you are buying before taking the sale
people don't do a test drive on the one they are getting, then say there is to much wind noise, etc.
DO NOT forget to do a good test drive and take up to at least 70-75
No the Palisade isn't going to ride as smooth as the ML350.
Then to if you were here in Arizona you have 3 days in which you can say no to the sale and return the Palisade.
you might check your States law on that.
I came from a Genesis G90, and at first thought the Palisade rode rough. Now after having it for over a year and a half
I'm used to it and don't notice the ride.

I don't know anything about Arizona laws, but I thought that the 3-day return rule applies to used cars, not new ones. I would double check that before assuming one can return it.

But I do agree that the Palisade has a comfortable ride. Make sure the drive mode is set correctly, and the that the tires are inflated to 35 PSI (as mentioned, they are way over-inflated for the boat ride from Korea). Back in 1998 I bought a new Toyota Camry made in Japan, and when I started to drive it home I was freaking out about the very stiff ride, but it turned out they they did not do the dealer-prep correctly and the tires were way over-inflated.
 
I was just commenting about this to my wife Sunday. The Palisade rides a bit rougher than my G80 did, but it is heavier and an SUV, not a low slung sport sedan with electronic adjustable suspension.

It is what it is. I bought it for specific reasons, no regrets here.

2 days after my purchase. KIA had problems and I was totally unhappy with it.
 
Well, a Hyundai and a Mercedes aren’t in the same category so it would seem silly to expect a luxury brand experience from the Palisade even though it is by no means an inexpensive vehicle. As people said you can check the tire pressure, but I wouldn’t think that would create an exaggerated difference unless they were severely overinflated. I don’t believe there are any suspension differences between the trims and the drive modes don’t affect that as it doesn’t have adjustable or magnetic ride control. Hopefully you’ll like the one you’re waiting on.

If the dealer did not initiate the title application yet, and the mileage you accumulated was not too high (especially if the car already had some demo miles on it), that may have been why you were able to return it. If the car had already been titled, they could not sell it again as a new car.

It would have been the Kia dealer, not Kia Motors, that made that decision, unless it was returned under your state Lemon Law.

My 1998 Toyota Camry assembled in Japan had tires that were severally overinflated when I drove it off the dealer lot after purchase, because that is how they set them when shipping overseas to the USA. They are supposed to set them to recommended tire pressure during dealer prep, but I guess the high school kids doing that job did not do it. At that time, only some Toyota's were made in Japan, and had the over-inflated tires due to transportation via cargo ship, so that may be why they didn't check the tires.
 
I got my new one and asked the dealer to make sure the psi was set to 35 (the loaner was indeed set to 45+). Mine does indeed drive smoother. Much happier! Thanks for all of the input!
