Seat Cushion material

I noticed on my calligraphy the seat material is not the same all around. The side of the driver and front passenger seat that bumps up against the middle console appears to be cloth. Is there a reason why the seating isn’t the same material all the way around.
 
The seats are advertised a leather trimmed, and not full leather all the way around the seat. This is to save money and is typical on all but true luxury cars. However, I would describe it as a synthetic leather, rather than as cloth. But that assumes you are in the USA.

Thanks for replying. Yes I’m in USA. I took a picture of the console side of my passenger front seat. I took the picture through open storage below. I then took a picture of the outside of the passenger. You can see some cloth like material stitched to the synthetic leather. It appears it’s that same material fully used on the inside.

You are right, it does look like some kind of cloth. My first impression based on where it is located is that it allows the seat cushion to breath. I know that some of material on seat is real leather, and not sure how much synthetic leather there is.
 
That is a high flex area and vinyl or leather would not last for long,,,,good for them for using something that will not separate or crack from the flexing.

That Is exactly correct. It is not a cost cutting move. i had a Mercedes’ S class with the optional Designo ($15,000 option) that had the same treatment.
