Hi all,

My 2016 Azera lease expires in November and I have set my mind on the Palisade SEL, as I wanted bench seats instead of captain's chairs. I have been contacting dealers in NH, MA, and CT, though there is not a lot, if any, to negotiate below MSRP. Called Hyundai MF to find out that I can extend my lease on a month to month basis for 6 months.

Question for you all is, do you think dealers will build up inventory by Dec end - Jan, and that Hyundai/dealers will have more promotions for me to buy it then vs. crazy demand continues, Hyundai doesn't produce more, and I am in the same situation a couple of months later? Thanks

I think you have the right idea. If you wait, there will likely be better deals and more inventory. A brand new vehicle is often difficult to negotiate price on in the very beginning. And, in this case, supply is limited - which makes demand even higher...

Agreed. The longer you can wait the better your deal possibilities and selection will be. Good luck!

Agreed. If you can wait, you will save money. If you can't wait, you should be able to get MSRP. I couldn't wait, needed another car, but got MSRP minus $500 conquest.

I got mine under MSRP plus incentives for first responders. Not sure why the price gouging. Billy Fucillo Dealer in Syracuse NY has PLENTY of them and are selling SEL and Limited's under MSRP all day long.

Extend your lease out, and try to aggressively negotiate at the end of november and the end of december. You want to find a dealer that's trying to move inventory at the last minute to hit a volume bonus. Set a number you're happy with and stick with it and if you don't get there, just keep waiting. You're in the best position possible here because you can make a move but don't need to.

I did this at the end of October and got my SEL for 7.5% off MSRP before incentives. ~$5800 off the $41715 MSRP by the time you factor in the pre-incentive discount and the incentives I qualified for. It's all a matter of finding a dealer that wants to negotiate a bit and then catching them when they're desperate to move another unit or two.

I agree! No one and I mean no one should be paying thousands above MSRP for Hyundai period. Hearing stories that people did makes me glad I purchased my Limited for $2000 below from a reputable honest dealer..AND that was in early August when Limited’s were super scarce.

Thee will be most likely more deals for the SEl's. I got got my Limited on Friday, waited 3 weeks for the "firtst-off-the-truck" but was facing a lease end with a 2015 Genesis. All depends on your timing, If you can wait and are not looking for a limited then most likely by next month you'll hare better options. I live in South Florida and dealers here are sealing Limited as they come off the trucks. It's a hot vehicle at the moment. BTW I love the Palisade. :)

I went Friday just to put a deposit down on "future" inventory, as they were telling me an SEL with Convenience/Premium with leather would be January. But... ended up just getting a delivery the day before of the one I wanted, so I bit the bullet. You could always put a deposit down, and wouldn't be out anything if you decided you weren't ready when yours came in, as they will just sell to the next person and refund your deposit.

Yeah, I am in North Carolina and we made a road trip to Maryland to get ours. Too little supply of Limited AWDs in stock in NC, when they arrive, they are either "spoken for", "pre-ordered" or bought as soon as they are unloaded from the hauler. I use quotes because EACH dealer seems to tell a different story...some say they will take a deposit but do not guarantee ANYTHING other than we may have one in up to 3 months. Other dealers have waiting lists for ANY AWD Limited, no guarantee on ext/int color, although I am sure you can pass and wait, but I don't know how that affects your place in line. Other dealers are "first come/first serve" I had a couple tell me "good luck" and offer no help beyond that. Bottom line, I am not 100% sure what Hyundai is thinking exactly. Maybe, as we are all aware, for the price, the Limited is a ridiculous bargain when compared to luxury SUVs with similar features, so maybe they are limiting production? Being built and shipped from Ulsan South Korea can pose logistic issues when demand is high, so there is that consideration. (Interesting that the Telluride is built in the Kia Motors plant in West Point, Georgia, so not so much of a logistics challenge there.)

Bottom line, although they are hard to come by the pickier you are in regards to packages/options, they are available with a little dedication and persistence. Oh yeah, and we got our Limited AWD below MSRP! All in all a great deal.

Actually the Telluride has similar supply issues. Try getting an SX Prestige (the top trim) and see what they tell you. :)

Hyundai grossly underestimated the demand for this SUV. Not just here, but even in South Korea, they have seen double the expected demand. People are waiting 9 months there to get one. I saw an article a few months ago about Hyundai trying to expand capacity for the Palisade, but unions in South Korea turned it down because it would have come at the expense of another product.

Congrats, that's a deal of a lifetime. May I ask which state was this? I got the SEL AWD with the Premium package minus Drive Guidance, $2000 below MSRP and felt that was a good deal as I didn't have to extend the lease and that, that was the only dealer ready to negotiate. Sad part is there was no other incentive that I could qualify for, otherwise could have saved even more.

I'm in southern California. Sadly, I actually know of a dealer that was doing better deals by about $1200 a month or so prior, but I couldn't get them to replicate.

I would put car dealers against each other to see who comes up with the best price. I know this takes time and effort, but with threats of tarrifs the Palisade might be costlier in the future, I’m sure manufacturers will pass on any tarrif to the consumer. If tarrifs are enacted in the future, it might benefit the Telluride since they are made in the U.S.
