I purchased a new loaded 2020 Tuscon Sport. I did not want the Limited because I wanted the cloth seats. I traded in an older Tuscon and this model has many more features and drives/handles better. My wife and I love it. We have had the car almost 5 months but only have 1500 miles on it mainly due to COVID. (This is our 4th Hyundai and the first 3 were trouble free and great)
The odor started a few days after we purchased it. The salesman said it was a fabric protector on the seats. The dealership still stands by that. Our garage now has a “bad” odor. We have an odor remover container in the car and 4 in the garage which we change every three weeks. I open the garage door and window every day for about 3 hours and park the car outside with all the windows down every day when home to air it out but the odor is still there.
We are in our 70’s so only trips to nearby grocery and doctors. The car spends most days airing outside but odor has not let up. We also have a 2019 Santa Fe Limited which we keep windows up in the garage and never smelled until recently when the odor started creeping into it as it is in the same garage.
Am I the first Tuscon to report this? I did not realize it was an issue until I saw a Car and Driver article on line today
