I'm thinking about trading in my 2020 palisade which has 10500 miles on it and in great condition for the new 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz limited can anyone give me advice is it worth it or not.

I assume you mean Santa Fe? Other than being a bit smaller, the Santa Fe seems to be a very good choice. The only problem where I live there are very few Limited and Calligraphy trim levels in inventory and the therefor the prices are going up.

Don't think the Santa Cruz is out yet. They are taking reservations for it on Hyundaiusa.com now
Looks interesting, but just a Tucson sport with the back cut down to make it a pickup, uses the
same frame. Loaded with tech and features.
With the pricing, if you can live with less cargo space, looks like a good deal with the price
the used Palisades are going for

Yea that is a pretty big size move from a Palisade to a Santa Cruz lol. That said, if you don’t need the size then I think that Santa Cruz is pretty cool looking. You’d have to check with dealers to see when they’re taking delivery of them near you. You can go to KBB.com for trade in values. I just traded my Palisade in on a Santa Fe limited and got nearly what the sticker was on the Pali (and I didn’t even pay that in the first place). We love the Santa Fe and don’t miss the pretty much unused third row so it was a good fit for us and shaved about a hundred bucks off my payment.

That's a pretty good deal, since the Santa Fe Limited has all the electronic bells and whistles of a Palisade, plus things like automatic parking.

Also, the 2.5 L Turbo now has Smartstream technology that combines both GDI and MPi (multiport injection). Toyota has used similar technology for several years now in the Highlander and other vehicles.

"Hyundai Motor Group’s new Dual Fuel Injection system comes with two injectors, one GDi and the other MPi, for each cylinder, taking advantage of the pros of both injector types. For low-to-mid speed everyday driving, the system uses the MPi injector; for high-speed driving in highways or expressways, the system uses the GDi injector. Such optimization of fuel injection type to the driving conditions has led to an improvement in both performance and fuel economy."

My understating is that by using MPi at least some of the time, that helps keep intake valves free from carbon build-up as gas ( a Top-Tier gas with a good detergent package) washes over the valves. When operating in GDI mode, the fuel goes straight into the cylinder bypassing the intake values.

No I mean the new 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz SAV Sports Adventure Vehicle ( its a pick up but don't tell Hyundai )

Yes, I realized my mistake after Gene posted and I went out to the Hyundai website to see it. I agree that it looks like a pickup to me. I don't know why anyone would buy such a vehicle, since it exposes cargo to the weather and to theft. Maybe there are few things that would fit in a Santa Cruz that wouldn't fit in an SUV of the same size.

It comes with a tonneau cover starting with the SEL trim level, which secures the whole bed. See the review here: 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz might be all the truck you really need

I don't think that's accurate. At least they don't have rear ventilated seats (which require an electronic module), so I'd change 'all' with 'most' :). Plus a V6 is much nicer IMO, even if the new turbo rattler has more TQ. I also find the new face too 'in your face'; I like the subtle and unique beauty of the current model, especially in Calligraphy trim. But it's a matter of preference, of course.

When I said "electronic" I meant the driving assistance, safety stuff, infotainment, etc.

I would agree that the V6 is nice, but not sure it has both GDI and MPi to help prevent carbon buildup that occurs in most pure GDI engines. But one has to take very good care of a turbo to make last a long a time.

In the end I think it comes down to the size of the Palisade vs Santa Fe, and whether one needs the 3rd row seats that the Palisade offers.

I don’t think anyone has ever called the front of the Palisade subtle lol. Style is a personal thing though and I think the new SF is more handsome. I particularly like the T shape daytime LEDs. To me, ventilated rear seats isn’t a greatly missed thing. I’d much rather have the power folding mirrors. As far as the V6 goes I don’t miss it really. Perhaps it was the greater weight, but this turbo 4 is smooth and gives the SF a more athletic ride than I ever got in my Pali even in “sport” mode. But the thread wasn’t to pick different tastes really. It’s just a matter of get whatever you like. My point is just that if you don’t need the larger Palisade you may want to consider the SF if you want to be in, or stay in the Hyundai family as they are comparably equipped and can save you thousands.

I wish the Pali had both GDI and MPI, but I honestly still prefer the GDI NA V6 than any turbo, especially a 4-banger, even with dual injection. We don't really need the 3rd row seat, but my daughters really like the ventilated rear seats, plus it's nice to have the extra cargo space, and extra room inside.

The Palisade is garbage. I traded mine in for an Escalade. That thing 2020 SEL was in the shop from the time I bought it until this month. The wind noise was horrible, was in the shop several times trying to fix it. Than they damaged it while it was in the shop and then the shocks went out on the liftgate. I was done. I had a Escalade before, but it was totalled due to the other driver. The vehicle was not what I was use to and by it being in the shop all the time I started to hate it so personally I would never get a Hyundai again. Now the Kia Telluride is (I think) is a better ride. Besides I made the mistake in buying the vehicle new instead of waiting a year for all the kinks to be worked out. A dealership mechanic told me that to never buy new unless it is a upgrade and this was a brand new straight from Korea never before in the states.

You do realize the Escalade just changed (5th gen) for 2021, right? GM is junk compared to Hyundai quality-wise IMO, but hope you don't find out the hard way :).

I have never had a problem with GM so I guess I have been Blessed.

Escalade STARTS at $76k and typically they are close to $100k. Totally different class of vehicle...

For the price of the Escalade you can buy 2 Palisades and have one to use as a spare while the other is in the shop

Agreed about the Cadillac product. I had a new top of the line 2009 DTS Platinum, I mean it had everything they offered; rolled it off the showroom floor. And while it was nice, it was always in the shop. As soon as I bought it spent three weeks in the shop, and then multiple times after that; was so happy to get rid of it. No more GM products for me. And really, comparing a $100k Escalade to a Palisade, please .... Palisade is nice but it is a super start in its category. And I absolutely love my Calligraphy, it has a very solid substantial feel to it and is a great cruiser (I traded from a Sorento).

Since 2008 I’ve had two brand new GM vehicles. An 08 Silverado and a 17 Camaro SS. I never had a problem with either.

Although i think people have gotten off topic....I will add my 2 cents worth.
I did recently trade my 2020 Palisade Limited FWD with 32,000 miles for a 2021 Santa Fe Calligraphy AWD, and i don't regret it for a minute. The inflated trade in value of the Palisade made my out of pocket expense to go to a new Santa Fe very minimal. If you need a SUV that is large and has tons of room for stuff and people, the Palisade cannot be beat. But if you are like me and an empty nester now, and want something FUN to drive, the 2021 Santa Fe Calligraphy AWD cannot be beat. The Santa Fe is very fast and sure footed, and the napa leather seats are soft and more comfortable and seem to wrap around you more. The interior ambient lighting in the Santa Fe is a joke compared to the Palisade, and my MPG is less than i was getting with the Palisade, but that is to be expected with AWD and when it is so much fun to press on the gas pedal and leave everyone else in the dust at a stoplight. Santa Fe is 0-60 in about 6 seconds flat. Palisade is 0-60 in about 7.2 seconds. Way more torque at lower RPM with Santa Fe 2.5T motor than the V6 in the Palisade. The result is a very spirited acceleration from the Santa Fe.
