Need some advice, since Hyundai can't give me a straight answer yet. I have a 2021 Palisade Limited AWD.
The car is suppose to pull 5000 lbs. I bought a brand new camper. Weighed 3285 lbs. Did everything right. Weight distribution was perfect and had the electric breaks fine and
Left the dealer with the camper and got on the freeway and the car not only would not go over 50 MPH but would not go out of 5th gear. RPM's would run from 4000 to 5000 and when I manually put it in 6th, 7th, or 8th gear and touched the gas, it would do nothing. It was like the engine being off with your foot on the gas pushed all the way down. I made it back to the RV dealer and they were very nice and took the RV Trailer back and refunded me the amount I paid for the RV. I had the sway bars, electric breaking, perfect weight, but have no idea what is going on. When I left the RV dealer, the car drove home perfect for over 600 miles. I need some input please.

The owners manual says that when you tow a trailer, make sure to turn off the Idle Stop and Go system. But this doesn't sound related to your problem.

What drive mode are you using? Smart, Sport, ECO, or Comfort?

Is your traction control turned off or left on by default?

If your dealer cannot help, I would contact the Hyundai Motor America support line.

I contacted Hyundai. No call back yet like they were suppose to do yesterday. Someone told me to drive it on Smart Mode and idle stop was OFF. Should my traction control be on or off?

I think your traction control should always be on.

I always drove it in sport mode while pulling. It responded better. I pulled my trailer which was 3100 curb weight without issue last summer it's a 2020.
I wonder if the 2021 doesn't allow the vehicle to go over 50mph while the trailer is connected.

Boy I sure hope not... that would be dangerous in some areas like freeway towing!

from some limited google searching it appears the Palisade will only tow that much weight if the trailer has brakes and it is properly wired to the vehicle 7-pin harness using a Hyundai/Kia 7 pin connector at the trailer.

it appears that the 2021 models have the brake controller connector behind the ODBII panel, and there is a plug and play kit to convert the 4-pin to a 7-pin properly:

page 2 of this thread gives all the information for making to work correctly. :2021 7-pin harness | Page 2 | Hyundai Palisade Forum

I would guess that the computer was having some level of issue with your connections or brake controller, that seems to be the indication on page 1.

most states now have a 55mph speed limit for vehicles with trailers. so not really that dangerous.. especially if those towing trailers keep themselves in the far right lane where they belong.

it is illegal in every state for a vehicle towing a trailer to be in the left (passing) lane (unless that lane is an exiting or interchange lane, and then they can only be in it for a certain distance before the exit and/or after the merge) or the HOV lane, but apparently people don't bother to read up on or follow their local vehicle code laws.

I got behind a jack-hole today in a Class-B RV (Bus style) towing a off road toy on a flat bed, in the left lane doing 45mph in rush hour, then he merged to the HOV lane crossing the doubles. complete moron.

I've tried the link and a search and can not find the thread from the link you posted. Could you possibly help me to find the information regarding the kia harness?

Weird the link isn’t on this forum It is on another but pasting the link reverts it back to this forum.

See if this works. Copy the below link and Remove the space between palisadeforum and dot com. It is on the .com not .org forum
