Water in fueling compartment?

Every time I fill up with gas, there is a lot of water in the compartment, is this normal?

Sounds like it doesn't drain after a rain, car wash, etc. It would be nice to post a picture so we can all see exactly how much water there is.

There is no gasket around the gas cover, so of course water will get in there.
Mine has a drain hole in the back bottom of the inner liner. Rectangular shaped hole.
Check yours it should have also. If this gets plugged water will stay in there.
Blow air thru it or take it to dealer, they will unplug the drain for you.
