Gotta say, this car is really pretty safe. Had a driver fail to stop at a stop sign and try to cross in front of me an a divided 4-lane Highway. I hit her at about the speed limit. Car tried to slow up, but she was only about 50 feet in front of me when she sailed thru the sign.

Airbags deployed, lady came on and ask if I had had a wreck and did I need help, and car kept me from serious injury. Sadly, the other driver had to be transported.

looks like the crumple zone worked also

Damage looks minimal for a high-speed collision at the speed you said. Seems like a very safe vehicle indeed. Glad you're okay. Good luck with the aftermath. I'd like it to be totaled if it was mine, but it's probably not enough for that. Keep us posted. Good luck.

I would not be surprised if it is totaled. The engine compartment looks like it shrunk to absorb the impact of the crash and the unibody frame (different than the old body on frame designs used on trucks and very large SUV's) is possibly beyond repair.

Everybody knows it's a uni-body chassis. It might be close, but the high value of the vehicle makes it less likely to get totaled. We'll find out soon enough :). But I'd push for that as an owner.

I was told by several people that saw it at the tow yard that they would be surprised if it was not totaled. The radiator wrapped around the engine and fluids poring out were kind of ugly. I'll post up the results when I get them.

Unless/until the insurance company figures that selling it for parts gets them more than the difference with blue book.

In today's used car market, even totals are going for stupid prices.

Usually, when airbags are activated, it is totaled.............

Well, I guess I'll be looking for a new car.. This one got totaled by the insurance company.
As long as you didn't get hurt, I see it as a win.
Unless the insurance company screws you

Curious how much they give you. Hopefully what's really worth in this crazy used car market.

worst part is there is a shortage on parts!!!! If they dont total it you could still be waiting months upon months for the body shop guy to get all the parts to do the repair. I had to take mine to the body shop to repair a scratch and he told me I was lucky it was just a paint job.

Well let's try this again.... Insurance covered all but $600. I got this Third one yesterday,
