Hi I just took my 2020 Palisades to UHaul (as I was recommended by the Hyundai dealer ..over and over) I wanted a hitch to be factory installed but I was told it was non existent.
I went to U Haul and they put the hitch on today. The electric wires for the brakes are dangling from the hitch area. I live in the country (snow) and we love to go the the sea(salt).
I asked UH ..whats up with the wires and they said that unless they drilled holes that the wires would remain exposed to the elements (and car washes, under brush etc.) This does not make any sense. Can someone please let me know that this is normal and that I did not waste 400 on something that will be wrecked in a couple of months. BTW the warranty on the electric is only 2 years SMH .
Thanks xxx
PS the wires are NOT in any type of conduit

it is not normal.

1. there is a plug and play system for the 4-pin and 7-pin harnesses, I had the 4-pin and switched to the 7-pin, I have written about it and all the part numbers in several threads on this forum

2. all the plug and play wire harnesses are sealed in proper wire looms, and while there is about a 8"-10" area that is "exposed" the OEM wiring instructions have you strap them up inside the bumper cover, there are even holes already there to loop the zip ties through, or like I did, got some proper plastic clips and attached them to the wire looms and clipped them to the holes.

3. the only part that is actually exposed, is the 4 or 7 pin connector itself, and I found a proper mount on ebay for both:

Snapped a few quick pictures of my install. I did this myself. But as you see everything is in a wire loom and this is the OEM 7-pin plug and play kit.

If everything is working I might suggest Going to Harbor freight buying the wire loom yourself and just sleaving all of the wires.

Hey OP, it's 'normal' to have the loom exposed somewhat. What I wouldn't like is exposed wires, which is exactly what you get with the cheapo aftermarket options. That's why I'll buy either a U-Haul or Curt hitch (they look identical, probably sold by the same Chinese place), and the OEM wire harness, which is completely covered in wire loom, and the 4-pin connector has a cover as well. I hate how the 7-pin connector looks, since it's not integrated (like the Korean Palisade, or the US Telluride), and since I'll probably never haul anything with electric brakes, I'll install the 4-pin connector, and leaving everything tucked up out of view nicely. Will probably use a small Velcro strap to secure the 4-pin connector, leaving like a foot, so it can reach any trailer harness without being tight. And use the same strap to secure it to the drawbar. Might even use a freezer ziplock bag, so it doesn't get all messed up with rain and stuff. Bottom line is this: With any installation not integrated, there will always be wires involved. At least we don't have to store them inside the spare tire compartment, like on other vehicles, which is even worse. Ha ha. You could post pictures, to suggest ways to clean up the installation. Good luck.
