Wind noise and buffering in Hyundai Palisade

A couple of,questions:

1) Anyone notice the match? Getting ready to burn it down.
2) How‘s the wind noise now?

I had wind noise not long after driving it off the lot when I bought it on 5/12. I knew it was a possibility (thanks to everyone sharing their info), and on that date there was a strong cross wind that made the sound very pronounced. The dealer heard it on 5/14 when I brought it in for this and the vibration issue. The 19-BD-010H TSB that is out there on the wind noise is apparently not applicable anymore. As of today (6/11) the original TSB for the wind noise fix is still revoked and a new is one is hopefully on the way. The dealer was unable to pull it up through the Hyundai system (I gave them a copy of it for reference), and they don't want to touch it until the updated one comes out. Mind you, this isn't just a line to get out of doing the work...they are doing the complete repair for the vibration issue, so it isn't an unwillingness to fix it. The wind noise is typically drowned out by the radio, so this isn't a huge problem for me (the vibration issue was a huge problem for me, and thankfully they are in the process of fixing it).

When I am able to get the vibration issue fixed I'll report back. If possible, I'll get the updated TSB and share.

I noticed that my front fender was full of leaves when I pulled the wheel well liner back a bit as I was installing my mud flaps (again, since they were removed when I had PPF installed).

The front fender gap behind the wheel well liner was full of leaves, and since I frequently park under trees I wanted to keep this cavity free of debris. I found that there is a decent sized gap that you can access under the hood, near the hood hinges. If you have small enough hands then you can feel into this area and realize there is an opening down behind the front fender. I took some foam and stuffed the gaps to prevent anything from falling down behind the fenders. Had a chance to take it on the freeway today, and at speeds up to 80mph I want to believe the wind noise was reduced a little. In "open" mode (non-recirculation) there is still more wind noise than in sealed (recirc) mode, but the overall wind noise did seem to be slightly decreased.

Maybe it's wishful thinking on my part, or the wind noise issue has several causes and wind filling and rushing into the front fender cavity might be one of the contributing causes?

I still can hear wind noise coming from the bottom window seal so a tighter window seal would be something I'd want to try.

Good luck with the vibration..look forward to your follow up.. the wind noise, well that's another issue..been going on a year..a true fix..I doubt it.
2021 model will be interesting,to see the modifications that are made..my hunch, new glass ,door, and or insulation.

My fear for you all is that if Hyundai Motors decides is just part of its quirkiness.

CVP33, out of curiosity as I don't have a Palisade yet, if the wind noise wouldn't be existing and you didn't get your BMW yet, would you purchase a Palisade based on your experience?

Just trying to get a sense of importance of other questionable issues like thin wind shield glass, smells in some cars, some drive train problems in some, etc. versus a nicely designed and fairly luxurious feeling car at a seemingly very fair price.

Awesome vehicle, with incredible amenities, great design and easily the best first 30 days of ownership I’ve ever experienced.

As a data point to add to this thread, while I had my vehicle in for an oil change I mentioned that I get very minimal wind noise during cross winds (I've had very little issues here compared to most on this forum, but always best to document in case things take a turn for the worse).

They ended up replacing the driver door seal and measured the window frame clearance. Determined it was out of spec and adjusted the window/door accordingly. What little wind noise I had is completely gone now.

Somewhat surprised that they had the door seal in stock. Was the same procedure done to passenger side?

Thanks! Good to know! Knock on wood my car is perfect so far, but this is good news...

When I had my car in a bit over a month ago I was told they would replace the window seal too, but I didn’t take him up on it. If it hasn’t been redesigned then I figured it would end up just like the one I have now, and I was already there long enough for the wheel alignment.

Good to hear they found something that needed adjustment along with the new seal.

Did they road test it first before replacing the seal? Trying to get a wind noise to replicate itself is another point of stress, but if your dealer was willing to take your word for it that’s awesome

The seal was replaced because there was a small tear in it (that I don't think was actually related to any noise).

They did test drive and claimed they heard wind noise, so either they were super sensitive to it or they just said "ya, we hear it.... Sure"

I took my car to the dealer a couple months ago and they said the TSB was recalled so gave me a receipt and did not do anything at that time. I was told to call consumer affairs line so I can be notified of a fix in the future. I did and they told me they had no way to notify me. A few weeks later, a consumer affairs rep called me about it asking me to make an appointment to take it back to dealer and she would contact them to have them work with the tech line. We went on a road trip after that and noticed it real bad, we played with putting various foam in the window seals as recommended here and it made little to no difference for us. On returning, I have dropped my car off with the dealer on 7/13 and they called yesterday evening saying it would take longer than they anticipated, the tech line wanted them to take the door apart and take various measurements, etc. They are continuing to work with them on it, and so I will be getting a loaner today. Just wanted to provide this update as it does seem like they are trying to problem solve it.

Providing a quick update on my experience with the dealer/tech line working the issue:

Went to dealer today to do a test drive and the issue still existed. I asked what was checked, and they took measurements of gaps between window glass and other parts within the door which all were as expected. The tech line had the seals checked and cleaned however the issue still exists as I would expect. The dealer tech had done an air bubble test and confirmed large air bubbles being formed in the areas we were hearing the noise from. At this time I was given a loaner so they can continue to work with tech line on it further. Part of the issue is that the noise isn't always consistent. You can drive a bit and not hear it, and then hear it really loud to just an average level. Sometimes I only hear it 65-80 mph but have also heard whistling and noise at odd times around 45 mph.

Is anybody else experiencing a very loud wind noise on the driver side of the car at higher speeds. Mine is so loud it hurts my ears. I am going to take it to the dealer, but wondered if anyone else was experiencing it or took it into the dealer.
Mine has wind noise--but mostly cabin noise in cargo area...you hear tires on every road surface--very, very loud and annoying. Then at higher speeds you hear the wind noise at front window area...sounds like a window is cracked just a hair somewhere...always checking to see if window is up all the way (yet I have never put a window down). and you hear every car or truck that passes you--terrible!

Tire noise? Mine isn’t afflicted with excessive tire noise and I have the Bridgestones which are louder than Michelin.
I have more wind noise from the passenger side. I had tucked in .25in insulation rope into the driver side window channel; this is the window “sweep” seal on the outside. .38inch was too thick for this seal so I bought .25inch and it fit fine. I’ll try it in the passenger side now and see if this helps with the wind noise. Again, keeping it in recirculating mode eliminates most of the noises.

My Bridgestone tires are loud also....but can live with it.
The 2021 model is coming soon..my guess the wind noise will be much improved. A real fix / TSB bulletin for the 2020 is a pipe is a pipe dream.
If the wind noise is beyond what you can tolerate, have a top rate bodyshop attempt to correct it.

We purchased a 2020 limited edition ,window whistle on both front windows , replaced mirrors , door seals , door was checked for specs all good . Been dealing with shop for over 3 months , left with a loaner for 3 weeks , got it back tonight . wind noise still there . Anyone try the lemon law on this thing , we live in New York State
