Dealer fixed wind whistling noise from inside driver window. Easy fix with adjusting the seals around window. Happy Palisade owner. Absolutely love this car
What dearlship did you go to? I'm willing to drive b/c im going that insane

Hello everyone, I was looking on the internet for feedback regarding the 2020 Palisade. I am 6 weeks in with mine which is the Ultimate. I travel extensively for business, which means I am in the car for long periods of time each day. The wind noise is truly a flaw to the point my phone conversations, people think I have the window open a bit. I just had my first oil change and asked the service manager to check it out. I advised you need to travel over 80 kph to hear it. He agreed there is noise. He went back to dealership and drove another model from their lot, same issue. It seems the window moves when it is down more so than any other car i have had. I am not a auto designer but maybe the seals need to be either set differently or a different style put on. It is to the point where I am experiencing head aches from the noise. Looking for feedback if anyone else has experienced it or how to report it directly to Hyundai.

We have had ours 4 weeks and we have the ultimate with the same problem - horrendous wind noise on driver side - we are shocked at this.

Thanks for the reply, have you approached your dealership about it yet? I think the more we report it to service, they will hopefully start to look at it if they haven't already done so.

No not yet there was a pull to the right issue we are dealing with as well

I got a call from my Dealership that they have new information from Hyundai regarding the wind noise. The dealer provided no insight into what the fix is, but did say they tried it on one vehicle successfully so far. I am scheduled to take mine in on Friday, so we shall see.

If it’s true that’s great news!

So far I’ve isolated mine to it’s inability to equalize the cabin pressure when the AC is on. On the highway at 75-80 I have a lot of wind noise and whistles. When I turn the air off 99% of the noise it goes away (amazing how quiet the cabin can be!). So what’s happening is the cabin pressurizes with the air on and it has to find the next least path of resistance behind the outflow valve to relieve pressure; at this point it’s my passenger door seal.

Can’t really access the outflow valve that’s located behind the drivers rear wheel well, but I’m thinking it’s to small or something might be inside the panel restricting air flow. I did confirm my limited only has one so this might be part of the problem too.

Got an appointment to drop mine off tomorrow morning at the dealer and a Hyundai tech specialist is stopping by to look at it. I’ll report back what they find and if a positive fix is identified.

Turn on recycle air and the noise will go away!! I’m taking mine in tomorrow to try to fix it.

Changing to recycle, or shutting the AC off makes no difference in mine...

So I finally got my car back from Don Franklin Hyundai in Lexington KY. They said they fixed it and so far 78mph and one hour into the drive the whistle noise is gone. He said that it was the metal plate in between the door seals was pressed too right so no air could be released. He had to move it so air could get thru. The fix is logged on Hyundai computer so people should be able to go to their dealerships now with a fix. You still here some normal wind noise but nothing like before. It’s almost too quiet in here now. Lol

I have played with the seals around the door by running my finger underneath them and snapping them up a bit and it seem to make a difference. But today I was "fortunate" enough to drive on the highway with a very strong crosswind (gusting to 40 MPH) from passenger side. When I hit 75 the driver door sounded like it was rapidly farting (couldn't think of a better way to represent it) around the top of the door frame. The noise was really bad. I put my fingers up to the seals to see if I could feel air rushing in anywhere near the noise and nothing but I did feel the door frame pulsing in/out against the seal. I then turned around and went the other way to see if the noise transferred to the passenger side now that the cross wind was hitting on drivers side and there was no unusual noise from passenger side or driver side. AC was off but fan was on level 2. I would think if it was a venting issue then it would occur regardless of what side the crosswind was hitting the car but maybe that is not the case. I looked at the driver vs. passenger door alignment and nothing seemed different between driver and passenger side. I'm taking it to the dealer in a couple of weeks and I'll mention the potential fix posted above.

UPDATE from my earlier post WED 8:40 PM.
Got my vehicle back today. The wind noise is noticeably reduced, but not eliminated. I spoke with the Service Manager about the fix but he was reluctant to go into detail explaining that until an Engineering Service Bulletin is released by Hyundai, no official fix is authorized. He said the felt tracks that seal around the window were adjusted to preload against the window. He got a preliminary set of guidelines from Hyundai prior to anything official being released. With this being a brand new model, we are all sort of guinea pigs finding problems and solutions. He indicated they used an instrument that can isolate the location of the sound. He said they probed all around the window while going highway speeds and in various traffic conditions like near a semi, etc. He said there was a noticeable increase in noise as the instrument approached the front of the window near the outside mirrors. The large mirror must be causing significant local turbulence.
I am going to live with this for the meantime. I encourage those of you who still have the problem to work with your dealership to see what information is coming from Hyundai regarding this problem. I think they (Hyundai) is finally starting to pay attention to this issue. Maybe there will be a definitive, reliable fix in the near future.

Mine whistled again today with strong crosswind of about 40mph. Something is still not right

Another thing. My whistling is coming from driver window about 6-8 inches in from frame (back). I can lay a pencil on top of door against window there and it stops. Can lay my arm on there and it stops. So air is either coming in there or out there. But I have pinpointed the area on my car where whistling is coming from. So it WAS NOT fixed at dealership. Waiting to hear more replies from you guys out there.

Hi , I am New to this forum . We are looking for a new family vehicle . After my research i found Palisade to fit for our requirement ( SEL 2WD). I have been following this forum as part of my research and the noise issue is a big concern . I took 2 test drives at different dealerships , i was able hear the wind noise on the driver side window at speeds above 45 mph . Me and my family loved the car but this noise issue is the only thing holding us back from buying this car . I have seen posed where people have registered their complaints to Hyundai , wondering any response from them ? Anyone in the group got any help at the dealer for a fix ?

Has anyone find a fix? I have taken my car in three times to see if they can fix it and have no luck!! It’s super annoying. Also does anyone have a black spot at night from the head lights on the left side?
We also have the same wind noise that has gotten worse since purchase. There is now also a whistling noise that changes if you put pressure on window/door. Hard to drive like that. Our dealer also says aware of problem but no fix yet. Such a nice vehicle, otherwise very satisfied with it.
