Wireless charger makes sound when in use... normal?

Hi there.

My latest issue with this car is when I place my phone in the wireless charger spot, I hear a whirring sound. It is like a noisy fan. I take the phone out; the noise stops. I place the phone back in; the noise returns. What is this? Does anyone else experience this?
