Hello everyone. I purchased a Palisade Limited today (in addition to a Santa Fe Limited ha 🤦‍♂️). Loving the car, but have a question about the CarPlay cluster.
When active, the CarPlay cluster shows 3 things: Maps, Audio, and weather (I think, been a long day)

Is there a way to change these items? in particular, I use Waze and would prefer for that to be the default navigation and would prefer for that to show on the cluster.

When you say “cluster,” are you referring to the dashboard view (the alternative CarPlay home screen) or are you referring to the three recent apps listed on the left side of the screen?

If you’re referring to the dashboard, the last version of iOS enables any map app to be able to display in this view; only recently have any actually started to take advantage of this. Google Maps just started in the last month or so. Presumably Google will add it to Waze sooner rather than later, but who knows. You can take advantage of this by opening the maps app (that supports this) that you want, and then as long as that is the last-used map app, it will show on the dashboard screen (see my attached screenshot).

If you’re referring to the three recent apps on the left side of the screen, those are the three most recently opened apps in three respective categories. The top one is the maps app, the middle one is the audio app, and the bottom one is the communication app (phone, messaging, etc).A04B9979-0985-4E73-8071-9370CEF56452.webp

Thank you! I was referring to the dashboard view! So it sounds like Waze just hasn’t been enabled yet. That’s unfortunate right now because I live the hazards that are shown on Waze.

it appears that you use google maps. Do you prefer that over other navigation software?

To be honest, I very rarely actually use any map apps for anything other than estimating ETAs or getting an idea of how many miles I have to go on a big trip. Otherwise, I’m just using them for an overview of where I am. My most-used map app is Apple Maps since it’s best integrated with all of my devices, but I do sometimes use Google Maps as well when I’m feeling like something different. When I took this particular screenshot, I was just trying to see what it looked like in the new dashboard view when it finally added support. I almost never navigate using the car’s built-in navigation system unless I’m on a long drive because it’s nice to have remaining mileage info in the gauge cluster.

I actually typically keep my CarPlay in split screen so I can have my audio (music/podcast) information take up the entire CarPlay interface, and then have the factory map (or weather) off to the right. I do this because if you have CarPlay take up the full screen and use the dashboard screen, you have limited playback information and small album art. So I’m willing to sacrifice seeing Apple/Google Maps to see my audio info as prominently as possible. It’s pretty much my own hybrid version of the dashboard screen. And if I really want to see Apple/Google Maps, they’re just a tap away.

I’ve basically never used Waze, but I know a lot of people enjoy using it. I know Google has added some bits and pieces of Waze to their Google Maps app. So I guess it depends on what you’re primarily using it for and what interface you prefer.
