Wind noise and buffering in Hyundai Palisade

We had all of the TSB fixes applied and it reduced the sound for about a week. Thereafter, the wind noise was back, including the whistling sound. The service center at the local Hyundai said that is all they can do based on the notices from Hyundai. We asked about replacing the door and the response was they don't have authorization from Hyundai for that as a fix. Perhaps more people will be needed to prove that the TSB fixes don't always work.
You certainly have a case. I haven't seen many people confirming that all fixes were attempted. You're one of the first. I suggest you contact Hyundai Corporate. Your dealership should also open a case with Hyundai.

Also, there are those reports that Hyundai is no longer honoring the TSB, potentially because they have a better fix? That hasn't been confirmed, so maybe your dealership can get that info from Hyundai.

I got my Palisade in mid September 2019. Took it on a road trip to Cali in early October and drving across the desert with a high cross wind it sounded like a freight train was coming through my window. Even daily drives with a slight wind causes wind noise. It sounds like the door isn't closed all the way or the window slightly open even though that is not the case, the wind noise is noticeable. I took it into service for an oil change and mentioned the wind noise so they ordered parts which took 2 weeks to get here. Today, I took it back in for service to replace both mirrors for wind noise.
The end result is very disappointing! The wind noise seems worse! Weather reports wind speeds today are a mere 4mph and the wind noise from the window is very noticeable at about 38/40mph.
I turned around and went back into service asked if anybody actually test drove the vehicle, they took it back in and came back to me and said all they can do is report it to the engineers and let me know if a solution is found. They said one of their service advisors also has a Palisade and they have theirs reported to the Hyundai engineers too. Apparently that's all they can do at this point.

At this point, although I really love the Palisade, I am thankful I only leased the vehicle, at least I know I'm not locked into it and I certainly won't consider getting another Palisade in the future unless a fix is found.

Yesterday I called my service rep to inform him that the TSB fix did not work, for me, and he said that Hyundai has indeed suspended that campaign as a better "fix" is in the works. He had no other info, and no timeline..

After about a 2 week wait for dealer to get the part I had the TSB done yesterday. I never had the whistling sound, just air escaping the cabin or coming in on the lower left rear side of driver's window near the B pillar. Seems much better now but I forgot to somehow mark the original window run so that I know it was replaced. I did find what looks like a ribbed 1/8" round string of rubber under the inside of the window run. This is in the area where the rubber seal doesn't even make contact with the glass or anything. IMG_2688.JPGIMG_2689.JPG The passenger side, which is original, doesn't have it. Does anyone that has had the TSB done have the same piece of rubber stripping in theirs?

I am having the same problem with driver side wind noise. I am considering looking into the Atlanta Lemon Law
I am having issues and have (at least with my issue) come up with a temporary workaround. My issues is whistling coming from the RIGHT side about head high. If I turn on the recirculate button (right under the scan button) it will greatly reduce the noise HOWEVER the button may or may not stay on ….. which is another issue.
Stay tuned …………..

Took mine in on Monday. Waiting for a driver side window for replacement. I wonder if that is the new TSB?
Perhaps it is, but I find it hard to believe that that would resolve the issue. Maybe it is thicker and fills the channel better. The previous glass might have been thinner, allowing air to seep through. Not real sure though. For your sake, I hope it works. Keep us posted.

The dealer said that they were going to tap around with a hammer. Maybe that was to close a gap in the channel. Maybe they broke the window--HA!

Just stopped by my Hyundai dealership today to schedule the TSB(s) for the wind noise repairs. The Service manager who was more than willing to resolve my issue and provide me with a loaner car said the TSB(s) have just been removed regarding wind noise repairs and at this point as of today 2/10/2020 he could not conduct TSB(s) repairs for the wind noise. Since he did not know why this just happened It was our guess that they have hopefully figured this out and will be issuing a new TSB(s) or possibly a recall. (I am not sure if they do recalls for wind noise since its not a safty issue) I think we will know a lot more in the next few weeks. My dealership acknowledges there is a wind noise problem and it needs to be resolved. I now have an appointment at the very end of this month and was told to call a few days before the appointment to confirm if they now have a viable fix-repair so I dont waste my time by bringing in my car then. They - We now must wait until the dealerships receive more direction from Hyundai Corp. Since this just happened it would be nice to know from other Palisade Owners if they hear or can comfirm the same thing from their dealerships. Lets keep our fingers crossed that this might actually be good news. I hope this is confirmed by more of you? If Hyundai gets this figured out the Palisade will be one incrediable car to own. FYI, if you look at the Kia Telluride I beleive on their forums you will see similar wind noise problems, makes sence since they have a lot in common.
Could be a shortage of parts in Korea due to the virus in China (which has caused a shutdown of production at the Hyundai plant there), and they need those parts for new builds. So they could postpone them for already sold ones, or maybe come up with some kind of other fix, such as a silicone sealant.

I can confirm the TSB has been suspended. Just left the dealership who didn’t know until today. Says it was suspended on the 7th.

Suspended doesn't mean cancelled or permanently stopped. Definition of suspend is "temporarily prevent from continuing or being in force or effect." It would be nice to know why. Part shortage? Better fix? or ??

I just got a call today from my service advisor letting me know the TSB is no longer active (I assumed it meant canceled - he did not use the word suspended). He just noticed that today and has no further details on next steps. I dropped my vehicle off yesterday for the 3rd of the 4 fixes of the now defunct TSB...

Just because it is suspended or cancelled doesn't mean we should make less noise as owners. Otherwise Hyundai might try and just sweep it under the rug. That is Hyundai's problem, not the owners that have invested their hard earned money on the product they are selling. The issue is truly inexcusable in a vehicle in this class, which Hyundai installs acoustic side glass in the SEL with convenience pkg and up. This wind noise issue kind of defeats the purpose of the glass in the first place. Makes me think that Hyundai really rushed this vehicle to market before it was ready.

My write up said the words temp suspended. He also showed me the Hyundai website where they pull them from and when he clicked on it the words were suspended. He seemed to think that means they are working on a better fix and we will see something better in a bit. I’ll post the picture once I have enough posts.

I took my Palisade Limited back into the dealership Friday to get a part on the rear seats replaced, as I had a very annoying squeak that happened almost all the time while driving. I haven't heard the squeak yet so hopefully they fixed it....

I did mention again about the wind noise, and they said they could take a look at it again. But he did say they were basically waiting until Hyundai gave them something else to try for a permanent fix. At the last appointment they adjusted the door apparently. The service guy said they take the inside of the door off and adjust something, because the air gets in there and it makes a wind tunnel or something and that's where the noise comes from. Has anyone else heard of this???!!!! I will say the first time they fixed it, it got better. Then on Friday, they made the wind noise WORSE !!!! So now they've tried to fix it twice, and actually taken it back to square 1.

So apparently I need to just deal with it and hopefully Hyundai comes out with a fix????!!!!! I'm just so frustrated about it. I know it's not the end of the world, but it just stinks that we have nice new cars and there is something wrong with them.

UPDATE: I just talked to the service manager who talked to the tech that replaced the window run and was told that that rubber strip is part of the window run they received. I told him that where it is placed on the inside between the frame and the gasket does not press up against anything so it doesn't increase the pressure against the window. USELESS! He had no explanation other than that is what was received. I removed it and heard no difference. Most of the noise is still gone, but I will be trying the 3/8" foam insert to see if that makes a difference for the better.

Suspended TSB?

I brought in my palisade to get the wind noise checked out and I shared the TSB 19-BD-010H with the technician. He told me the TSB was suspended at the moment. Anyone else been told the same thing? Thx

I truly believe they are going to get this thing figured out. Hyundai hasn't gotten to where they are now, from lack of customer service, that's for sure. Hell, Genesis just beat Lexus in the JD and power reliability list. The very first time they were on it. That is very impressive.
I just don't know how the Palisade made it through preproduction testing with this issue, before production even got started in the first place. It is truly inexcusable.
