Prices Paid

I went to each dealers websites and try to get emails of the internet managers or sales managers directly as those are the one that can make decisions. If you end up involved with a regular commission sales men it will be harder to negotiate as they will get a cut of the sale. Don’t waist your time, only talk to a sale manager.

Below is a sample email I sent to all the dealers. I got all my numbers from Edmound.com. By now they are outdated and it is my understanding that prices have increased.

“ Good morning (Dealership name) team.

My name is _______ I am interested in the Hyundai palisade VIN# KM8R5DHE1LU082846

I will like to buy the vehicle today Out of the Door keys in hand for $44,600 + TTL

To break down the offer.

Dealer invoice price is $43,980
First resp incentive is -$500
Hyundai value owner -$500
total dealer invoice ________
after discounts = $42,980

Added features @ Invoice:
-carpeted floor mats, +$120
-cargo net. +$35
-Cargo tray. +$115
-splash trim. +$95

Freight transport charge: +$1095

Additional dealer profit: +160

_________
Totaling my offer of $44,600 + TTL

I think this is a very fair offer not including the 3% dealers holdbacks and manufacture to dealer direct incentives. on top of that as soon I drive off the lot the vehicle decrease in value and approximately be worth $41,000 private sale or much less.

I have secured financing, but if it helps breach any gaps I am willing to finance through you as long as it matches or beat my current interest rate offer.

Let me know if we got a deal and I’ll buy the vehicle today. “
Thanks so much!

Thoughts on CarGurus pricing? Do you thin what they have listed as fair, good and great are an accurate reflection

Try TrueCar also. I downloaded the app, if there is a dealership in your area that participates and has already agreed to the TrueCar price, this could work in your benefit. Unfortunately, no Hyundai dealers participated in my local area, but Honda dealers did. True Car gave me a price of 33,636 on a new 2020 Pilot EXL including dealer doc fee. This was an amazing deal, and I was all set to buy until I saw that 2018 and 2019 Pilots were going through a class action lawsuit over the infotainment and instrumentation screens freezing up and/or blacking out. Honda still has no fix for it. So far we are liking the Palisade SEL.

Those prices look good, especially when you consider what the market value of the Palisade is currently. I also am a firm believer that you will typically get a much better deal at the end of the month, when sales numbers need to be increased and quotas met.

I too have a pilot. 2016 and hate it because of the issues. That's why I'm looking for something else. I thought TrueCar was bought out by dealerships

You can use true car as it shows you what others have paid. Always negotiate on the lower side of that. You should aim to get the best deal you can. The way to do that is calculate your own pricing by knowing all the incentives offered and deduct those from invoice or even below invoice.

Example if a cars MSRP is 50,000 but invoice price is 46,000. And the company has 4K on incentives and you qualify for 1k cash rebate and also $500 employee rebate.

The dealer will deduct all those incentives and rebates from MSRP. But shall start your negotiations by deducting all those from the invoice price or even lower.

Unfortunately they don't have any incentives that I qualify for right now. I'm going to keep at it. I'm not taking anything less than a great deal

It took me almost a month to find someone honest that was willing to give me the deal I was looking for without even negotiating. I knew I was offering a fair deal where I was getting a great deal and the dealership was still making a profit.

He was the only one really willing to make a deal with me when I was turned down by over 10 dealerships.

I was going to have the palisade ship to me for $750. But it was cheaper for me to travel and pick it up.

What he did to give me confidence that the deal was not going to change when I showed up is that he made a purchase order detailing everything and how much was going to be out the door. With sending than he was legally bound to give me the agreed price that appear I that purchase order.

Give him a call or email him and tell him Rony send you. I am not sure what you are looking for, but he can get it for you too. That’s what he did with me.

Not really sure about True Car operationally speaking, but I used the app a couple weeks ago. Couldn't hurt to try.

It does more than just tell you what others have paid. It's kind of hard to explain without actually showing you. For example, this was a screenshot I had taken while using True Car. This was my local Honda dealer that participated. This price was way under invoice too. You configurate your car on the True Car app, then it will email you with any True Car Deals when you select your area. This is only if there are dealers around you that participate though. You can enter other areas if there are no participating dealers around you.

You can also negotiate beyond truecar. It's a good tool to figure out which dealers are willing play and go from there. The dealer I got mine from had a truecar price that was about $1400 off MSRP pre-incentive. I negotiated that down another $1600 to $3k off pre-incentive.

With that Pilot, the price was so incredible, especially because it included the dealer doc fee, the thought of negotiating further never even crossed my mind. Fortunately it had that lawsuit going on though, otherwise I probably would have never discovered the Palisade.

This is what I was offered tonight on a hyper white limited AWD

$ 48,205.00 MSPR

$ 44,749.54 Sale Price

$ 47,375.00 out the door
Wow! That is like $700 below invoice, and I didn't count any dealer added accessories like floor mats, cargo net, etc. That sounds like a really good deal. The Palisade looks sooo good in hyper white also. I could be a little biased though since that is the color of our SEL.

Good god, where was that? I found a Limited FWD in hyper white, but I can't get them to get me an OTD price. That said, they did budge a bit on price. They have agreed that they would knock off 1000 MSRP, though not binding.

Just insist that you are willing to do business but you will only do so after discussing the out the door price. Also, if you have a trade don't mention it until after you have come to an agreement on your out the door price for the palisade. Now that I have agreed to my price, we have stared discussion on my trade which will make the deal that much better! Just keep at it. This one has been allocated to the dealership for delivery in like a week and I am putting a deposit on it. So as soon as they get it, it ships to me.

I forgot to mention, that out the door price I got INCLUDED shipping

Which dealer is this fi you don't mind sharing? I would love to replicate the deal and order one.

Be sure to get quotes on your trade in from Carvana, shift, and vroom. You'll probably find one of them will give you a good bit more than the dealer.

You could have found the invoice price and deduct the discounts and incentives from the invoice price instead of from MSRP. That would have save you 2 or 3k more
