Prices Paid

Are you looking at dealer inventory using the Hyundai website? contact dealers by email and don't walk into their den expecting to deal face to face for a good price.
Are you a Costco member? Give them a call and see who the closest dealer is/are that are offering Costco member pricing on the Palisade you want. When I was looking I settled on Costco pricing in San Diego even though I'm in the Bay Area. BA pricing was high as you're discovering, but it wasn't 5k over sticker for a FWD Limited.

I was in contact with Dick Hannah's in Portland since they had a decent number of AWD Limiteds, and while they initially didn't budge from their MSRP pricing, they did offer to match the Costco pricing. They wouldn't go lower than the deal I already had in hand so I chose to go with Escondido Hyundai in San Diego since they offered the price first and were no-nonsense about it.

good luck in your search. I searched all CA dealers and came up blank except for Escondido Hyundai in the months I was looking. Use the Hyundai website since that gives you a fair idea of who has what in stock or incoming.
I might end up doing the same. Seems like San Diego had the best pricing.
I didn’t know about Costco though. I’ll look into that. Thanks!

Yeah, Costco pricing cuts both ways. No haggling from the price they quote, but for the AWD Limited it was the best price I could find within an 8 hour drive at the time so that made my choice easy.

Franky Medina was my salesperson. He was awesome from start to finish. I was paying cash but the Finance guy was a snake and tried to sneak a 900 dollar security system onto my contract at the time of my signing. Good thing I studied the contract line for line. Finance managers usually try to get us to buy crap we don’t need, but the way this guy tried sneaking it onto the contract was just sleazy and really pissed me off.

Good for you for catching that! That'll teach me to look next time!

Tried Costco auto and it said that none of the dealerships around me meet their criteria. That's a bummer. I guess i'll have to do it the old fashioned way!

Wait til the last day of the month. Email a couple dealers and tell them what you’re looking for and where you need to be at. I was literally in my car on a Hyundai lot where they gave me the old “they are selling well so they aren’t really taking anything off” and I shot an email to another dealership and laid it all out. In like 15 minutes he emailed me back and said that the sales manager said to sell a car on the last day of the month they’ll do it. I got a couple grand off and they paid off my trade that was about $2k under KBB value. Getting $1k off for first responder helped too.

I just got a AWD Steel Graphite SEL with convenience, premium, driver guidance and all weather packages for $39,990. MSRP was $44,440. I'm located in Oregon, we seem to have lots of inventory at the dealerships all over the state and they are getting the 2021s on the lot so I think they want to make room.

I love my new car!

Received Cotsco offer today Capital Hyundai Greensboro, NC. Can I do better?

I’d be happy with the no-nonsense Costco price.

Can you tell me what dealer you went to? We pretty much want the exact same set up and we're on the WA/OR border. Thank you.

Dick Hannah in Portland always had a large inventory when I was shopping.

Hunsonbeefrey, have you checked cargurus?

Yes, all the time. However, Cargurus can be deceptive.Occasionally, I will find a dealer has an additional dealer fee of $999 or $1999, negating their best price.

Thank you. We're going out to test drive one at Tonkin. We aren't ready to buy just yet (and are still waiting to drive a 2021 Telluride). Tonkin was the one closest that had the Costco pricing, but I wasn't sure if that was the best deal or not.

Yeah, I had contacted two dealers through cargurus that changed their listed price. Old bait and switch...

For anyone looking, we were just at Dick Hannah in Portland, Oregon and they want to move the Palisades and are willing to deal. We test drove an SEL with convenience and premium packages and a few other odds and ends that i didn't pay attention to. The MSRP was @42,650 and they showed some local markup of almost $3000 making their price almost $45600. They were willing to sell it today for $38650 ($4000 under MSRP).

Sorry, meant to add, it was also AWD. It wasn't the right car for us and I wasn't ready to buy a car today. But if anyone is shopping today or this weekend, they want to make deals. (He said they are trying to move Hyundais particularly, so I think it wasn't just Palisades they want to move.)

The 2021s are hitting the lots? Do we think the 2020s will drop?
I was browsing dealer inventory at Spokane and it looks like they have at least one.

This is what I am looking for. I’m all the way in Billings, but I messaged them anyways. The dealer here I talked to was nice but said they aren’t moving more than 500 on price.
