I’ve called several dealers and everyone has a 5-7k markup. I’m not picky on exterior color as long as the interior is black (two small kids) and AWD (fear of snowmageddon again). My husbands a first responder but the only discount dealers are willing to give us $500 off heir 5-7k markup. Any help/advice is appreciated

I’m also in no rush and can wait till march/April

The supply should be getting progressively better, so if you can wait, that'd be the smart thing to do. Your other option is to look for deals at (or near) MSRP elsewhere. That's what I did, to get the one I wanted at MSRP, and fortunately, found one not too far away (300 miles, in Albuquerque, NM). Good luck.

Bob Stallings in Dallas is still the place to go. Ask for Michael! We put a deposit down with another dealer back in Sept 2021 and still haven’t heard anything definitive about arrival date. I reached out to Michael at Stallings and reserved another there Dec 27. We just drove the car home today! A two month turnaround in this market is great, not to mention, they only charge MSRP!

Just reserved a car with them! I was talking to the finance person there and they told me that even though they are only the rare dealerships in the DFW area that don’t mark up their cars, the other dealerships are still outselling them. SMH. I only found out about them because of this forum thankful for that!

A lot of that has to do with Bob Stallings Hyundai being on the south side of Dallas. Even though one can get warranty service at any dealership, many owners feel uncomfortable with that (sometimes for good reason). The vast majority of affluent residents in Dallas live north of downtown Dallas or one of the northern suburbs (north, northeast, or northwest).

Why should you only stick to the dealership for warranty service?

Been to few dealers. No one offered a test drive. They can only sell once they receive vehicle after adding blackout package and some other stuff. Going to call Micheal and see if he can place a order. What is the best trim to get with Bench middle seat?
Placed order for Telly. No update even after 4 months. It is FWD. Is it good idea to get AWD Palisade in DFW area?

Do you mean why would a buyer not want to buy a car from one dealer, and take it to another dealer for warranty service? Even though dealers are supposed to treat customers all the same with regard to warranty service, some dealer service advisors/managers will screw you in terms of scheduling (and sometimes more) if you didn't buy the car there. I personally have taken my car to a dealer for warranty service even though I bought the car at a competing dealer, but some people are not comfortable with that.

AWD is not needed in DFW (except during freak weather events like the Super Bowl in February 2011), and the dealers there don't stock that many AWD versions. Plus, in the case of the Palisade, there have been some reports of rear axle noise on the AWD models.

Thanks for the information. I placed order for Telluride EX FWD. It is still pending. Then, i was thinking about AWD for improved handling. Telluride forum has lot of complaints about AWD vibrations. That is the reason i am thinking about going with Palisade AWD. If i need middle bench seat, my only option is SEL trim right? Planning to visit dealer and take a test drive.

The Palisade and Telluride share a lot of parts and technology, and the AWD vibrations seem to occur on both models, although not everyone has that problem. The corporate relationship between Hyundai and Kia is complex, but Hyundai owns about 33% of Kia, even though they operate separately in terms of marketing and sales.

Thanks for the help. Do i miss anything by going with FWD for TX.

You might get slightly better handling in adverse conditions (heavy rain, snow) with AWD, but you loose about 1 MPG in fuel efficiency and right now there is a risk of encountering vibrations with Palisade or Telluride AWD. The fact that Hyundai and Kia dealers in DFW order very few AWD versions is an indication that most buyers in that area don't request it. If you are concerned about extreme weather handling, I would recommend Michelin CrossClimate 2 tires, which work very well on dry, wet, and light snow.

Both Telluride and Palisade are still having issues with AWD, so if you don't need it, MUCH better to go with FWD. Plus you'd be saving 2 MPGs on the highway, and about 165# of extra weight, plus the added complexity. When I was buying mine, supposedly the Calligraphy only came in AWD, so was reluctantly going to go with it, but very glad I found out in the nick of time there were FWD versions (saw one getting off the truck when I was going to buy mine), so cancel the sale, and waited for a FWD Calligraphy. I live in the TX desert, so no real need for AWD, plus no waste of 2 MPGs either :). Good luck.

Thanks for the information. Need to find out a dealer to test drive.

Thanks for the information. Telluride owners are really struggling to get it fixed form KIA dealers. Hyundai seems to be fixing it with a TSB.

I don't know about that. Maybe very recently, but tons of very frustrated owners fighting dealers for months to get the issue resolved. That TSB expired in 2020, I believe, so dealers were ignoring it (as not applicable), even though the issue is exactly the same. Hopefully with the refresh, Hyundai finally took care of fully eliminating that issue. Since only a fraction of AWD vehicles have it, it points to a tolerance issue that needs to get tightened. We'll see. Good luck.

Thanks for the information. Looks like both Kia and Hyundia are focused on exterior/interior refresh than improving the drive train. Nothing mentioned about improvement to AWD.

They'd never mention that, as it'd be accepting there was a problem before, and manufacturers NEVER do that. Ha ha. We'll find out once the 2023 AWDs start hitting the road. There's hope :). And after 3 years with the problem, I'd be surprised if it isn't fixed.

Got a text from Huffines McKinney dealer. They are asking $56,337 for Limited in white color. Sticker price is $47,640. They added $8,697 which includes black painting around front grill.
