Thank you for sending this. I'm hearing the new models built after Dec. 2020 supposedly used a different manufacturer for the head rests, but it sounds like the whole seats should be replaced.8/19
You don't let your dogs just sit on your vehicles without a seat cover, right? So it shouldn't really matter what color the interior isI have yellow labradors and take them to dog shows and agility trials, so black interiors are a nightmare for me!
You probably would have to thoroughly clean all the interior surfaces to get rid of the smell, because they likely picked up the odor from the headrests. I know that is pretty hard to do, but it could explain the reason why the headrests are in fact the problem, even when the odor is still there after the headrests were replaced.I've had all my headrests replaced and they still have the garlic smell. so I don't think it's just the headrests.
Here is one article about the subject, but there are others you can find using google. Obviously, there is no way to verify that Hyundai's statements are 100% accurate. Note that I have already put forth a theory above as to why the odor may still exist even after the headrests are replaced, but that is obviously just a theory. If Hyundai feels it's the headrests, love to hear the explanation how they came to that conclusion, and exactly what it was.
Some nasty stuff inside this car!
The dogs primarily ride in crates in the cargo area, but their hair gets everywhere! Besides, I like the lighter interior. I also feel the black interior is hotter in the South Florida hot, humid climate. You don't let your dogs just sit on your vehicles without a seat cover, right? I think you are right about the leather. I've only heard about the problem with the Nappa leather also... I was talking with a guy who had a Palisade with the other leather and he said he loved his Palisade, but wished he had gotten the Nappa, as he said his leather was peeling!I answered your poll but my answer probably doesn't matter. AFAIK, the smell only affected those with the Nappa leather. I have an SEL with Premium package and our leather is different. I don't think any of the SELs with leather had any problem. So, we have a 2021 and there has never been a smell.
What a bummer for him. I've never heard of peeling leather in an SEL. We've had ours a year and it still looks new.I think you are right about the leather. I don't think peeling leather has been a common problem on any trim level of Palisade. What often happens is that people use harsh chemicals on their car interiors that should not be used.I think you are right about the leather. I don't see the mfg date on it. The dealer had just received it and the 2022s haven't been sold for very long. So, I'd say probably June or July mfg date?Do you know what the build date is for your car?
Some people have mentioned build dates on their cars. I think it's supposed to be on the sticker inside the driver's side door. Someone here had mentioned Hyundai changed suppliers for the headrests last December, so hopefully if your car was built January or later, it won't develop any bad odors!I don't see the mfg date on it. Looking at the results from this poll, so few people have had problems, your car will probably be fine. I guess if it does develop any bad odors, you can have it taken care of quickly.Found it. June 2021
And since it's so new, the headrests should be from the new supplier, not the one with the problem.Looking at the results from this poll, so few people have had problems, your car will probably be fine. I guess if it does develop any bad odors, you can have it taken care of quickly.
Debbie have you thought about starting a survey of people who are happy with their Palisade? And since it's so new, the headrests should be from the new supplier, not the one with the problem.
