Great idea!!! I can do that! I wasn't trying to focus on negativity with my survey - I just wanted to find out what problems people have had, and it's turned out to be very helpful. I've learned if I get a FWD, I shouldn't have any problems with vibration at highway speeds and if I get a 2022 with build date January or later, hopefully I won't have the odor issue.
There have been MANY people complain about them. As it only happens in cars with the Nappa Leather interior and being as I hate leather interiors, my car isn't affected.
Dealers are supposed to ask Hyundai Motor America corporate level for permission to replace the headrests by contacting Hyundai Techline if the cleaning procedure does not work with two of the cleaning solutions. So if I were you, I would work on that with the service manager, or try another dealer if needed.
Let's just hope it is JUST a foul smell,and nothing more sinister.
Artificial leather and foam (not sure which one is the culprit in the Palisade Limited and Calligraphy headrests) are made from petrochemicals, so it probably is sinister. The fact that they were made in China is not surprising either, because the Chinese are known to dump toxic waste into some of their products.
Only the seatbacks (i.e. the part you back touches) and seating surface is real nappa leather, the rest is artificial leather. The headrest are 100% man made material.
