I just got a 2021 limited, and I want to have the "3 widget" look on screen, right now radio or nave take up the full screen.

I searched online, and they say to bring up the menu and edit home screen widgets, but I don't have that option, o ly an option to edit the icons. What am I missing?

You can't get 3 widgets at once anymore. But you can get 2. You slide in from the right side of the screen to bring the side panel in on the right. You can then scroll through various widgets in that panel. It results in the main widget (nav, or radio... etc) taking up 2/3 of the screen and another widget taking up 1/3.

You can also go into the menu and activate the split screen function

Well that's frustrating. I can swear I test drove a 2021 and definitely preferred the 3 widget view over the 2/3 and 1/3.

Oh well :(

Well the new home screen gives you the exact same info as the 3 panels did before. The only thing is that the map is now unusable on the new home screen, but really, if you actually needed the map, you wouldn’t have kept it on only a third of the screen when it was possible to do that.

Yes, I really *would* have kept the map on 1/3 of the screen, as it was quite handy that way during test drives.

I found the details of the updated home screen online. I dont see how it is considered an improvement over being able to see a map and customize what information you see.

But it is what it is, and we can have our own opinions.

So being the version I have, can I at least skip the warning screen instead of seeing it every time I turn the car on? Or skip the home screen and load radio/map automatically?

I don't know what you mean "during test drives". I'm not saying they shouldn't have done a better job with the map on the new home screen, I'm simply saying that if you actually need it to go somewhere (as opposed to whatever you mean by "test drives"), you're far more likely to have the map on at least 2/3 of the screen.

The rest of the info is the same on the new home screen as it was before on the 3-way split panels.

The warning screen does disappear on its own for me. I can't remember if it puts me back on the previous screen I was on.

I meant when I was test driving the palisade at the dealership when deciding if I wanted to buy.

You are trying to tell me my preferences, please don't. I for one liked nav on 1/3 of the screen, and would not be "far more likely" to use it on 2/3 if given a choice. The 3 widget layout was a selling point for me on this car vs others. And depending on which widgets I had chosen, the new home screen may not have the same info (ex: compass, which I miss from my prior car's homelink mirror).

I did test waiting on the warning screen, and as you said it went away on its own which is nice. Thanks for that info!

Never did updates...too many don't like updates,so I leave it as is

Since you have a Limited, you should have the digital cluster. You can get a compass in the digital cluster as well, instead of the infotainment system. That should give you one more piece of info you were missing.

I wasn't really trying to tell you specifically about your preferences, just speaking generally about everyone commenting on the new home screen. There's a lot going on the nav screen when it's actively in use, such as showing which lane to be in when you get to an split or an intersection, as well as other info, that simply wasn't convenient (if even possible - I don't remember it now that I have updated) with the map on only 1/3 of the screen. You may be one of the few people who could have managed that way, and that's fine.

Not trying to offend you - my point was that a majority of people complaining about the map being unusable on the new home screen (and I agree, as stated above, that they could have done a lot better) would not have kept it on a third of the screen only when actually using it. That's why I think it's not as big a deal as people make it out to be. Except for you. ;)

I actually think the new home screen actually gives them more real estate than the old 1/3 split to make the map usable, if they would only fix the color scheme. I could see staying on the home screen if they did that.

But then you don't get new HDA-capable roads. You mentioned driving across states, so that might be useful to you.

Also, it doesn't matter if other people don't like it. It's your opinion that counts. The online manual has screenshots of the new UI if you want to review it: Owner's Manual

I had both, I prefer the new one. Some questionable design choices for sure, but nothing that pushes anything into the realm of 'unusable'.

I do hate the icons though, both old and new.
