This recent Thanksgiving weekend we were using navigation and decided to take a detour. We knew where we were going, so paused navigation until we were ready to continue to our original destination.
We had been out of the car for about an hour and a half, and when we got back in and tried to resume navigation, we found that the touch screen was totally unresponsive. The physical buttons like Nav and Map and Radio would change the displayed information, but in any mode the touchscreen was completely frozen and unresponsive. We tried stopping and restarting the car, turning the radio off and on, and a couple of other things, but it stayed frozen and unresponsive.
It stayed that way for the duration of our drive (about an hour and a half), and the screen was very warm (almost hot) to the touch.
We stopped for dinner, and after about 45 minutes we came back out and when we started the car, the touchscreen was working again.

Any ideas what happened, how to avoid it, and what to do to get functionality back if it happens again?

On the passenger side near the tune knob there’s what looks like a small reset button. Maybe that’s what is for.

We had a similar problem today. Starting our limited this afternoon, the touch screen was black, and there was a spinning circle on the center of the dash screen. The radio did not work, and the touch screen remained black and unresponsive for the trip to the store. The vehicle was restarted at least 3 times with no change. After about 45 minutes, upon restarting the car everything was back to normal...

I’ve had this same issue with my touch screen twice. It goes totally black. The radio didn’t work. I called the dealer. By the time they got me in it was working so they said nothing was wrong.

So our touch screen stopped working tonight as well. Praying it works in the morning. Hall did you learn any more since your post? Ugh! Really don’t need this!

Did you try hitting (poking) the reset button?

Are you guys using Android Auto? I had the same problem with my Dodge when I used Android Auto it would occasionally freeze the infotainment system. It would eventually reboot and be OK.

I had this issue. The dealer installed a software update in December and I have not had the issue since. Call the dealer and ask about the update

I Literally picked up my Limited last night. Played around with the settings etc... then this morning - completely unresponsive!
Will wait to see if the dealership does a courtesy morning call... Not off to a great start!

Well hopefully this is just a software update yet to be downloaded. Congrats on your new Palisade though, and welcome to the group.

All is good now and back working (phew).. I guess it just needed something!

i just experienced this problem with my 2-month old Palisade, too (purchased late June 2020). Heading to airport this morning, tried to turn the rear air conditioner on for my daughter, and unable because the touchscreen was unresponsive. The physical buttons change the screens, but nothing can be done using the screen itself. I’ll call the dealership when they open with hopes a software update is available. This is my first issue with the vehicle, and I’ve been otherwise extremely happy with the car.

Just press the reset button (lower right corner)

Thanks for the advice! Next time it happens (hopefully never), I'll try it out and provide feedback!
