Prices Paid

Couple of dealers are offering me about 2700 off the MSRP, in Chicago area.

That is a good price if you can deduct incentives on top of that. Just look out for dealers hidden addons and fees. Tell them to give you the breakdown of the Out the door price after all negotiations are completed.

Grayson Hyundai in Knoxville is making deals. They are currently working a dealer trade for me on a fwd SEL with Convenience Pkg, sunroof, mats, cargo net, cargo cover, first aid kit, and bumper protector.
MSRP: $38250
Grayson Discount: $3038
Sales price:$35212
Rebate: $500
Doc Fee: $498
Etch fee: $249
Total: $35459

Honestly, I didn't even try to negotiate the fees after I saw the price was so good. They more than erased my first responder rebate though. Unfortunately, with the addition of the complimentary maintenance, I found Hyundai has removed the competitor owner rebate. I really wanted the premium pack car, but the rational side of my brain convinced the irrational side, I didn't really need it.

I spoke with someone at Grayson earlier today. Could you tell me more about the first responder discount? Who qualifies as a first responder and how much is the discount?

The whole buying experience was great. Originally he did not have the one I was looking for. That was Black on black limited. But he put a priority request to get it. In short he did invoice + 500 - all incentives and rebate I qualified for. For that specific limited the offer was 45,500 + TTL.

But each deal is different you might get a better deal. He was always upfront, I am planning on buying another vehicle this summer and he will be the one I’ll most likely buy it from.

Sounds like you did good! Congrats on the purchase and thank you for disclosing your experience. Going to test drive one after church...…..we will see! I had one guy from a Knoxville dealer tell me over the phone that they don't sell for less than MSRP. If that is true, he cost himself a sale! I will buy something else before I pay MSRP for anything.

I email Lot of dealerships Gerald was the only internet sale manager willing to go below MSRP. To the point he counter me Lower than what I offered.

If you don't mind, could you tell me how you knew the invoice? I thought there was a website that could tell invoice on new models, but I cant seem to find it. The ones I am finding require your to fill out a bunch of BS to get the information.

Edmunds.com

Go to new vehicle pricing, pick your make and model/ then scroll down and select build and price. Build it the way you want it and at the end it will give you Invoice/MSRP and true market price.

Also true car does similar but I like Edmund better

My salesman was Matthew Howerton. Very pleasant experience so far anyway. I will tell you further when I actually get our Palisade. The dealer trade hasn't gone through yet. It was actually his day off today. He told me he was still going to work on it today anyway. I told him not to, and enjoy his day off. I am fortunately not in a huge hurry, but at least the hard part is done already, the $numbers.

Which Knoxville dealer was that? Grayson never gave me that impression at all. Of course the first time I went in was at the end of January, so that could have had something to do with it. We had already talked numbers at that point, and they were really trying to get those Palisades on the books for the end of the month. I am glad I waited though, other wise I would have missed out on the 3 yrs of complimentary maintenance now offered by Hyundai on new 2020 purchases starting Feb 1st.

I had an amazing quote from truecar on a new Honda Pilot EXL for $33,636, and drove one. Was just about to buy, until I saw where Honda had a class action lawsuit filed over the infotainment units in 2018/2019 Pilots. Some 2020 owner's were already reporting the problem. Unfortunately, I could find no local Hyundai dealers that would participate in TC. Some of you may have better luck. Edmund's TMV lately has been slightly above msrp on Palisades in my locality. Edmund's TMV has been my go to in the past. The best thing about Edmund's is you could use them to contact other dealers online, and let them compete for your business. The more you can do online before getting to the dealership, the less stressful your experience will be. Always ask dealers what their fees, doc, etc., are before reaching the dealer. That way it won't be such a surprise. Don't ever mention your trade if you have one upfront either. Agree on your new car sales price first, that way they won't manipulate the numbers in order to make you feel like you are getting a good deal. Same with the finance payment.

What dealership?
When did you make this deal?

I am really interested in knowing this myself. A Limited would have been a no brainer at that price. That is an insanely good deal.

40k for a "loaded" Limited? Is it AWD? That sure sounds too good to be true....

details please
