Wind noise and buffering in Hyundai Palisade

I appreciate the effort, but that looks gawd awful.

This is not the way mine looks. Just helps with stopping the noise temporarily. It’s a good temp solution for those that don’t want to remove their door panels and are waiting on Hyundai to come up with a fix.

Best is to remove the door panel and install two pieces of foam weather seal (about 1” long) around the ends of the inner window seal. This stops the wind noise and whistle and in my opinion is a good permanent fix. Especially since I found a similar piece of weather seal on both ends from the factory however the location they installed it wasn’t filling the air gap.

Other than changing how Hyundai engineered the door seals on these suvs a little air leaking through will always exist. The bottom door drains are located on the open air side of the door seal so air that gets behind the door panel through these gaps is directly vented outside through the bottom door drains. The faster we drive or selecting a higher cabin fan setting increases the flow through the door (keep in mind selecting recirculate limits ram air from driving entering the cabin).

Once I figured this out the dealer and I tried the bubble seal trick on two other Palisades on their lot and it stopped the wind noise on both. The dealer was working with Hyundai to push this fix back up stream but since mine is now fixed I have no need to keep following up with them. Take my word to try this seal trick and I’m more than willing to help anyone who wants to perform a permanent invisible fix.

CVP33 — what did you find out?

Parts were ordered for the wind noise fix and air bag recall. So now we wait.

I recently experienced this same issue with my Palisade. It sounded like someone was whistling. It was so loud it hurt my ears. I also had my forward collision give me a error code. I was just driving down the road and It said the radar was blocked.... there was nothing in front of me. Weird.

Holding off my LTD purchase as well. Why be aggravated when spending this much $$$$$. Will take a look at new Highlander when it arrives by Christmas, but still like the Palisade. Hoping vehicles built after 12/1 will have problem resolved.

Go search up the 2020 Highlander reviews. The updates don't do much to solve for a 3 row Highlander that really should be a 2 row. Still a cheap interior, out dated tech package even with the 2020 and the third row is still useless. If you really just need a 2 row SUV then the Highlander should definitely be on your list.

Is anybody else experiencing a very loud wind noise on the driver side of the car at higher speeds. Mine is so loud it hurts my ears. I am going to take it to the dealer, but wondered if anyone else was experiencing it or took it into the dealer.
Yes-I have a similar noise . It sounds as if I'm in a windtunnel. It is very annoying.

Thank You Bheath, we went to Home Depot and for $2.98 picked up some of this as a test, and put on in the parking lot, and before we moved the car 10 feet we could tell the difference. OMG, this is where 90% of the wind noise is coming from. Now that it is quiet in the car, we can now actually hear...

I just purchased my Palisade limited yesterday. I heard the noise but thought I was just being overly noise sensitive. My husband isn't usually bothered by road noise, but this whistling sound is loud enough to cause him to be really annoyed. Unless the radio is up LOUD we hear the whistle and it's about to drive us both crazy. Calling our dealership tomorrow when they open. If anyone has had a successful fix to this issue please post the fix!

I just got a new Palisade. When i test drove another palisade before buying this unit, i did not hear much road noise through driver window.

But in this Palisade when i dive >40 MPH it feels like air trying to gush in type of road noise. Is this normal?
I just bought mine Saturday and have same issue. I love the Palisade but the noise is so annoying. Have you found any resolution to the problem?

Dealer fixed wind whistling noise from inside driver window. Easy fix with adjusting the seals around window. Happy Palisade owner. Absolutely love this car
I am calling dealership today, hopefully they can fix it as easily for me as they did for you. I love the Palisade. Thanks for your info.

After two failed attempts by my dealer to fix the whistling wind noise on the driver side window, I took it in a third time with a copy of the recently published (by Hyundai) TSB (technical services bulletin) that was posted on this site. I got my vehicle back yesterday and it is FIXED!!!!!

Problem can be resolved. Hyundai just put out a new TSB (technical Services Bulletin) to fix the wind noise. It works!

"Newer"?
Does that mean there is a second one, or are we just speaking of the original one?

Do you know which part of the tsb was the magic fix?

If you don't mind, if you could post your work order with the notes by the service advisor on the actual fix, that would be helpful for us who are still trying to get ours fixed. TIA!

Hope this helps---I was very frustrated after taking it into the dealer two times without results--even though they said they fixed it (first time with some type of seal, and the second time they replaced the driver side mirror). Neither worked so I was glad to find this TSB and take it to the dealer.

Attached is the TSB and a copy of my work order.

Thanks for posting, this will be really helpful. We are taking ours in on Friday.
