Wind noise and buffering in Hyundai Palisade

Even if turning the ventilation on stops the noise, this is not normal for a new vehicle to have this type of issue, it’s definitely a flaw. I’ve owned many brands of vehicles both new and old and never came across something like this. Since the TSB fix, my Palisade is much better, more quieter than before. Don’t settle folks and don’t let the dealer or Hyundai make excuses.

I was not suggesting that owners not complain to their dealer but only pointing out that the noise may not be from air (wind) hitting the outside of the window seals but from inside air escaping.

I understand, my point wasn’t against what you mentioned, I appreciate you have a suggestion for a temporary fix. Just making sure every owner does what is necessary about this to get the right repair done, some people might be ok with putting up with a little whistling/wind noise with making adjustments. Hyundai has gotten a lot better over the years in quality, but let’s keep at it until a real solution that works for everyone is accomplished, since it seems that the small piece of foam is not the solution for everyone from what I’ve read thus far.

Dealer just confirmed that Palisades are being corrected at port of entry. Do not know how long Hyundai has been doing it. Have been holding off purchase, would like to know what date they starting making the correction.

I would like to know what is being done at port to supposedly fix the wind noise problem. The build date on mine is 10/10/19 and the date of the wind noise TSB is Nov 2019. So was mine in port and a fix applied there before being sent to the dealer? The SUV does have some noise near the bottom rear corner of the front window but does not have the whistle. Did it already get the 82530 window run replaced? Is this a new design of that window run? It does have that piece of foam or rubber that can be seen in the bottom forward section of the window opening.

Is anybody else experiencing a very loud wind noise on the driver side of the car at higher speeds. Mine is so loud it hurts my ears. I am going to take it to the dealer, but wondered if anyone else was experiencing it or took it into the dealer.
Let me know what your dealer says

I know my case is far up to Hyundai Canada

if they can’t find a fix or resolution I’m going after them for a replacement
I just bought a palisade and the wind noise is crazy loud! Service tried to tell me its normal but this for sure is not normal! Need to escalate this problem.

Just got my Palisade back Friday. Tested during weekend and did not hear any whistle noises. All good after the TSB! Hopefully it will stay like that.

Thanks for reporting back but I have a few questions. From the 27th to the 31st to fix wind noise? Do you know exactly what they did/replaced? What is the build date of your Palisade? Also did it have that rubber or sponge like piece shown in a few previous posts? Doe it have it now?

Has anyone taken it to the dealership and got a fix for it yet?
Taking my Palisade in for side mirrors replacement. I was told the seal around it was rolled at the factory. I guess I'll see if that fixes it. I'm thinking not since I washed it the other day and I open my door and hatch there was soap from the car was. Pretty sure it is seals around all doors now.

I took my Palisade in on Thursday and was not expecting them to really fix anything. They said their first option was to adjust the whole door a little bit before ordering the parts on the TSB for around the windows. They also checked the parts on my car it says to replace on the TSB, and they said mine looked fine as well.

I will say my wife and I both believe there is NO wind noise now!! I am shocked to say that it seems to be fixed. So they somehow either tilted, or adjusted the 2 front doors and it has fixed the issue.

Now if I can get my back seats to stop squeaking while driving I will be happy with the vehicle.

Are you in the Des Moines, Iowa area, and if so, assume you took it to Stew Hansen?

I did take it to Stew Hansen. I am going to keep my ears open to see if it stays quiet. I feel like some days it's completely silent, but this morning, I felt like it was louder. At this point, maybe it's in my head. I need to drive the Palisade, and then instantly go drive a different brand of vehicle to see if I can still hear a difference.

In another forum someone was told there was a 6 MONTH back order for the fix. 6 month back order is unacceptable. I would for sure ask for my money back. My SEL AWD Convenience is back for the 3rd time. I'm currently working with corporate for a dealer buyback or manufacture repurchase. I was told that they prefer the dealer buyback b/c it's the cheaper easier route. The only thing that's unfortunate about my situation is I carpool 40 minutes about twice a week and while they were waiting for a loaner I had no choice but to drive. Luckily I took the vehicle in about the issue about a week or two after purchase.

Just got mine back today after having the window track replaced. Took 5 days for the part to come in. Didn't hear any noise on the ride home, although ti was raining pretty hard. Keeping mu fingers crossed.

Ok, keep us updated!

Got mine back yesterday. Had all the driver side door seal replaced. Service person broke a clip while replacing the seal and took extra 3 days for the new clip part to come in. Anyways, it did not fix the issue. I still hear annoying wind noise going 35mph.

I suppose my next course of action will be taking my car to a different dealership and have different mechanic have a look at it.

We had an extremely windy evening last week and it sounded like I had a wind leak by the passenger A post. I am a 2 month owner 1300 miles (Limited). DOB 9/28/19.

I am taking to the dealer tomorrow. I haven't noticed the noise until the windy day. I said something to the wife and she said she has noticed noises from the post area before.

Wish me luck.

It's been several days since the window track replacement and it appears to have taken care of the wind noise. A little background... after owning my Limited FWD for a week with no wind noise, we were out in unusually cold weather for our area (high 30's). Leaving it in an outside parking lot for a few hours, when I left and got up to about 25 mph, very loud whistling started from the driver's window area that everyone in the vehicle could hear. Took it in the next day. A technician said he removed some plastic that should have been removed and it stopped the whistle. He went ahead and ordered a new window channel per the TSB. I drove the vehicle and could hear no whistle or wind noise. A few days later, it got cold again. No whistle, but I could definitely hear wind noise. The new window channel was installed Monday, and we've been through could weather again with no wind noise! So in my experience, cold weather aggravates the problem, but the TSB window channel fix worked for me. My service advisor told me that if the whistle/noise ever re-appears, the next step would be to replace the outside mirror. Hoping I never need to go back for this problem.

Just stopped by my Hyundai dealership today to schedule the TSB(s) for the wind noise repairs. The Service manager who was more than willing to resolve my issue and provide me with a loaner car said the TSB(s) have just been removed regarding wind noise repairs and at this point as of today 2/10/2020 he could not conduct TSB(s) repairs for the wind noise. Since he did not know why this just happened It was our guess that they have hopefully figured this out and will be issuing a new TSB(s) or possibly a recall. (I am not sure if they do recalls for wind noise since its not a safty issue) I think we will know a lot more in the next few weeks. My dealership acknowledges there is a wind noise problem and it needs to be resolved. I now have an appointment at the very end of this month and was told to call a few days before the appointment to confirm if they now have a viable fix-repair so I dont waste my time by bringing in my car then. They - We now must wait until the dealerships receive more direction from Hyundai Corp. Since this just happened it would be nice to know from other Palisade Owners if they hear or can comfirm the same thing from their dealerships. Lets keep our fingers crossed that this might actually be good news. I hope this is confirmed by more of you? If Hyundai gets this figured out the Palisade will be one incrediable car to own. FYI, if you look at the Kia Telluride I beleive on their forums you will see similar wind noise problems, makes sence since they have a lot in common.
