Wind noise and buffering in Hyundai Palisade

I did take it to Stew Hansen. I am going to keep my ears open to see if it stays quiet. I feel like some days it's completely silent, but this morning, I felt like it was louder. At this point, maybe it's in my head. I need to drive the Palisade, and then instantly go drive a different brand of vehicle to see if I can still hear a difference.

Update? I'm curious how the fix worked.

Maybe this has something to do with the thinner glass they are supposedly using? Maybe somebody in purchasing department figured out they could save a penny by using a thinner glass but somebody in the engineering department forgot to spec proper window runners for the thin glass?

So the glass sits loose in its tracks and creates all those different sounds depending how it sits in each car?

I hope it is something as simple as that. They owe us, some serious acoustic glass to make up for the noise that early adopters have had to put up with in the meantime. If I was Hyundai after all this, I would make sure the Palisade is the quietest vehicle on the road. Bar none.

I recall many months ago, hearing the hype about The Palisade acoustic glass. Sounded very impressive. To be honest I never paid much attention to auto glass.Yesterday I checked my Limited...ya know what..That glass IS THIN ! This could be at least part on the problem..too bad S.Korea is virus ridden now..that ain't gonna help matters..

I just talk to a Lemon law attorney in US to sue Hyundai. He is not charge any money from me and promise me Hyundai return all money back or give me new car.

It's always kind of amusing to me when auto media sheds some light on what we already know to be a problem. The review itself is very positive, but when referring to the drive, look what is said about the noisy ride. I know Hyundai can't be happy with this issue, especially when journalists are reporting on it.

Are you saying it is so thin, the virus will penetrate right through? 😱

I actually really like our Palisade, and seeing as we just bought it the beginning of February, I think I am going to wait it out for a while, and see if Hyundai resolves this. I really believe they will. They have too much riding on the Palisade to screw it up. This is a very important category of vehicle in accordance with their model lineup. The sponge tsb seems to minimize the whistle near the A-pillar for the time being, but I do expect a more finished permanent fix from Hyundai eventually. Otherwise, I might have to consult a Lemon Law Attorney. A class action lawsuit with all new Palisade owners experiencing this issue might be an avenue as well. If others are interested.

That does sound bad, nothing a little music and/or noisy kids can't help for the time being though. 🤪 Is your noise coming from the A-pillar or B? The foam in the leading edge of the window channel nearest to the A-pillar has helped ours. Not saying it has eliminated it, but it definitely makes it tolerable. As far as I know, that is all that has been done so far, and it was like that since we took delivery. I am unwilling to have anything else more invasive done, until they know for sure it is going to work in all cases. Until that day though, the little foam pieces seem to be buying some time.

Update? I'm curious how the fix worked.

The shop foreman performed the fix inside the door panel. I'm assuming it's the fix that some others have described as the "new" fix since the TSB has been suspended. The wind noise is definitely better than it was!!! Schedule an appt to take it in, they know about it for sure. One of the service advisers told me when the Palisades started coming in, they test drove them and thought the ride was horrible. Not from a comfort standpoint, but the quietness. He said they noticed the wind noise back then. They thought it was pretty loud for what was supposed to be their more luxury vehicle.

I can still hear a little wind noise if I put my head close to the window. I told them it was fine for now, but I will bring it back in if Hyundai makes a recall or something. They had already made the wind noise better, then worse, now better again in the 3 trips I've made to take it in. I am not going to gamble again with it, until I see a permanent, good fix posted on here.

I am happy to hear there has been some leeway with your situation. Hopefully you can get a little more peace and quiet now, on the road. I am holding out for a permanent fix as well, but if it doesn't ever transpire, what was the TSB you went under. All I currently have is the luxury foam bits crammed down in the window channel. It works for us though, so I really can't complain at this point. I will if no permanent resolution is made though.

Thank you. I may take mine in and see if they can do the same thing. This is the only negative I have found-otherwise, I absolutely love my Palisade.

Yes. We ordered a Palisade and it has excessive wind noise when traveling at speeds over 40mph. Especially with a cross wind. We tried to return it, but Burnsville Hyuandai said they could fix it. It’s been back into the dealer three times now. The last time for a week. They have made Some adjustments to the door, and they have twice replaced the seals. We have started a case number with Hyundai. They admit to numerous complaints about people experiencing this same problem. Hyundai told the dealers service department to stop working on the vehicle until they figure out the cause. There are so many other people experiencing this they are trying to come up with a resolution for the entire fleet. I have a friend who just took delivery of the vehicle and has the exact same problem. Other than this issue, we love the Palisade, but I would hold off on buying any Palisade until they come up with a fix.

How are people documenting this with Hyundai if dealers aren't taking action (recalled TSB).
While my wind noise isn't nearly as bad as others, it is lounder than expected and I want to protect myself with the 1-year lemon law requirement.

Can dealerships make a note in my file? Not sure I only want to trust that.

I have a deposit on a Limited AWD. With all the wind noise complaints and Hyundai's inability to address the issue, I am thinking maybe I should put off my purchase (car is due in mid-March). Do any of you regret your purchase? I know this thread is for all those with the noise issue so we don't know the actual percentage of cars with the flaw, but we also know that not every owner with the wind issue is posting online in this forum.

Just test drive the car at highway speeds before you take delivery. If the noise is there, refuse to take the car. (Assuming a fix hasn't been sent out in the next month)

For those of you having the wind/whistling noise on the drivers side window, does it go away (or significantly decrease) when the heat/AC is turned off?
Yessssss. It also changes pitch when I push the door panel.

So what is the new TSB. Mine doesn't make noise like mentioned on the TSB. Mine does a high pitch sound mid door by the latch. Taking car in on Saturday to replace the door seals. But it sounds more like it coming from I side the door panel
