Wind noise and buffering in Hyundai Palisade

Hyundai knew they had a problem, but instead of stopping production, they just stuck a piece of foam in the window, and sent the cars to dealers
Unlike Toyota/Lexus that didn't stop production on the hundreds of thousands of cars (like your highlander) with fuel pumps that could just stall?

Is it more ethical to keep producing a car that had a failure that could cause an accident or just one that makes some wind noise?

73 currently nationwide per Autotrader. I thought that seemed kind of high for 2020 Palisades. Perhaps I am wrong.
Per CarGurus, there are currently 67 used Palisades for sale in the nation.

81 tellurides.

For comparison of another new suv that came out around the same time, there are 606 used 2020 Explorers.

Yup..Toyota sure makes some awful vehicles..wonder why it is not reflected in resale...I must have just been lucky...lol

Well it's definitely not because they stopped production when there major issues identified, much less small things like some wind noise like you expect Hyundai to do.

I bet it's because of the personalized letters they sent out to all the Toyota owners to let them know how progress was going on repairing the fuel pumps. I assume you got one for your Highlander, right?

Just be consistent and realistic with your expectations.

As @saxman242 just pointed out, that's actually not many.

But also, some suspicious listings on there. Very very low mileage cars marked as used, including some listed for more than MSRP. I mean, look at this, for crying out loud (note the price for a used car - allegedly!).

Yes sir ! btw I never got any letter from Toyota..because I never had an issue...if you think that Hyundai is in the same league as Toyota, you are the one that may need a realty check..

Wow! That's alot of Explorers. They are really overpriced for what they are. The new look is definitely an improvement though.

You're the one who needs a reality check. Here's are the latest consumer reports rankings. Hyundai is most certainly up there with Toyota. And has been for a while, actually.

Go Mazda! About time they received some sales numbers for that hard work. Mazda kills it in every segment. One of the auto industries biggest mysteries is why don't Mazdas sell better in the US? I used to think it was marketing, but that seems like it has improved, so not really sure. Style, quality, dynamics, and ameneties are all there in spades.

Mazda is relatively small, by comparison to the others. As to what they do right, true on most counts, but not amenities. The CX-9 for example, which is a competitor to the Palisade, is way behind in terms of infotainment. But don't take my word for it: https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/reviews/2020-mazda-cx-9-signature-awd-review/

Anyway, we're getting off-topic. Hyundai has consistently been at the top of the quality ratings for the past 2 to 3 years. They've made huge progress. @steelers just wants to hate on them for some reason. Wonder why he bought a Palisade in the first place...

I had a Mazda 3 about 10 years ago and the damn thing would stall on me occasionally for apparently no reason. I had it checked numerous times and each time they would replace something else and I never did solve that issue. Other then that it was fine, I guess - but because of that issue I have refused to buy another one.

My 2015 Subaru Outback has terrible wind noise on the highway luckily my Palisade doesn't have the issue, I'll have to check for the foam in the door.

Don't hold the current batch of Mazda's in contempt for the Ford/Mazda partnership built cars. They separated from Ford in 2013, and have done far better without them. My DD is a 2009 Mazda 6, and (knock on wood) I haven't had any real problems out of it. I would love to get one of the newer Mazda 6/CX5s though.

Glad yours doesn't.

Having replaced my wife's 2017 cx9 GT with the palisade, I can confidently tell you that besides sharing the same number of door and wheels, the CX9 is no competitor to the Palisade. What a miserable vehicle that thing was.

You never got a letter from Toyota because they would never send out personalized letters updated customers on the status of them working on non-critical issues. The 2016 Highlander you had had over 200 issued TSBs on it, and yet no letters. Yet, Hyundai does the exact same thing and it's nothing but complaints about how incompetent they are? Is it so bad to hold them to the same standard?

I am really surprised about that, but also haven't owned a CX9. Was it that unreliable? Auto journalists tend to rave about the driving dynamics also.

On the outside perhaps. That poor interior though...
That's what I meant, and as much as I hate the vertical iPad to the dash look, the materials are an improvement compared to it's predecessor.

What ? Reading comprehension lacking perhaps.
