Wind noise and buffering in Hyundai Palisade

They tried and it did not work...imagine buying a $50000 vehicle to discover after the fact a piece of sponge was shoved into the window channel to stop wind noise...that says it all...

I agree and although I love my palisade, it’s not an easy pill when the you pay this much. Luckily mine doesn’t whistle but just a little bit which almost any car does, but the humming happens at times and it’s not a good message god to have to adjust your air conditioner , recirculating it’s otherwise. I just tap the window down button ever so slightly and it goes away, but should I have to do this in a vehicle like this

I loved (past tense) my Palisade. Great vehicle and amenities for the price. I overlooked the first 4 major issues, but just can't overlook how Hyundai USA is handling my current, multiple issues (now 7 in 6 months) and I refuse to support a brand that treats customers this way. To be clear, my issues started long before covid-19 and supply chain pressures. Hyundai will regret how they are handling this issue as they were clearly riding a new found high and on their way to becoming a respected brand........no longer for this owner. And I will ensure others know about it.

What facts? You posted a screenshot supposedly showing the Palisade has more TSBs than other cars, when in fact, more than half of them were instructional or procedural in nature. You are absolutely wrong to judge the car based on that alone.

Now that doesn't mean you don't have legitimate issues with your car, including some that are worse than what others have experienced. You feel that you should lemon your car and that's absolutely fine. I'm not claiming that you shouldn't. It sucks that you lost the car lottery, as I said in my last post.

But you can't post that every Palisade is like that, based on your experience and a misleading count of TSBs. You don't like that I described you as exaggerating, but you have no problem posting stuff like "you know nothing" about me. Pot calling the kettle black much? And if you want to be arrogant about it, I think that my post history on the various Palisade forums will show that I know plenty.

Sounds like you just can't admit that you were wrong on the quantity of TSBs. That doesn't detract from your issues or your choice to lemon your car. Good luck with your Lincoln Aviator. You're gonna need it.

PS: no, I'm not going to PM you. I have no problem saying what I think in front of everyone. What someone thinks of me on the internet doesn't really bother me.

I wasn't apologizing. Nor do I claim to be an expert. I simply gave you links to all the TSBs that show that they are not issues, contrary to your claims. Checking NHTSA's website isn't hard and doesn't require expertise. So I fail to see how this is self-serving. Nor is it rambling since they're actual links to actual TSBs.

And you're right, I didn't know the details of your specific situation. Until you posted them that is. I told you twice already: I'm not telling you not to lemon your Palisade. Based on your issues, sounds like it's the right thing for you too do. What I'm telling you is to stop claiming that Hyundai is terrible and all Palisade are worthless. This isn't true and all those TSBs aren't really issues.

And for the record, I own a 2012 Sonata 2.0t, with the infamous Theta II engine. That car is on its second motor because Hyundai couldn't build it right. There have been class action lawsuits, whistleblowers... etc. This engine's story could be made into a movie. Plus my car has had pretty much every issue documented in every TSB. So I've had my fair share of dealings with Hyundai.

But when my wife picked the Palisade as her next car, I still bought one. Because their quality has improved and I always got great service. So I know how these things go. Not because I haven't had any issues. But precisely because I have.

You're doing the right thing for yourself by lemoning that car. But that applies to your car and your car alone.
 
To those that are struggling with Hyundai USA, remember to catalog your conversations. Especially if they promise any payments or timelines for a fix. A quick google search and you'll find:

1) Every Palisade forum with multiple threads regarding wind noise
2) Numerous reviews over the last few months that are starting to call it out specifically

Know that this may not work in your favor. My case regarding wind noise may be unique as I have in writing that "we are working on a fix for the wind noise issue" and a promise to fix it within a time frame. That's admission of the problem and a contract/promise to fix it. You may all be in a different situation if you've not cataloged your conversations and have emails as proof. I suspect that going forward the 'customer service' reps are being coached to not offer any promises of a fix or admission of a problem. You will be stone-walled with dealers saying "this is normal" and Hyundai USA saying "what wind noise". Good luck everyone.
 
Unfortunately they tried to move to the "what noise" position and broke a promise to pay. F'd with the wrong hombre. I don't play, I strategize, save emails and build my case. In the words of Michael Clayton - I'm not the guy you kill, I'm the guy you buy off.......AND YOU WILL!

Hey folks. First time posting. I've been following the wind noise issue on this forum and others for months. Bought my Palisade 3 weeks ago fully aware, after reading review after review touting the Palisade as tops in class, along with the Telluride. The test drives I made comparing the Palisade to the Toyota, Ford, Jeep, Kia and Volkswagon made it clear the Palisade was my choice regardless of the wind problem (though the Kia was close).

So far, could be worse. I've noticed wind noise when there is a strong cross-wind, but it disappears when the angle to the wind changes or dies down. I compared it to my Ford 2016 F150 on the same roads and same day and the Palisade was no worse, possibly better. I have heard a slight whistling noise twice when travelling at freeway speed. Not sure why only twice, as I've taken it out on the freeway 15 times at least. Both times stopped the whistle by turning on re-circulation.

If the wind noise becomes a problem, I'm going to use the Frost King grey poly foam caulk saver solution I found on another forum. Posters over there claim it works as a solution until Hyundai comes up with a permanent fix.

Overall, I'm impressed w/ the vehicle. I'm not downplaying other's issues, but I can only speak to my experience. So far I have a great car with an intermittent wind noise problem. Every other model I drove or read about has weaknesses as well. The perfect car doesn't exist, at least in my price range. My personal experience is that the Palisade's numerous strengths outweigh its few weaknesses.

So your 2020 Palisade was about the same as your 4 year old 2016 Ford F-150 from a wind noise perspective. Yes, thanks for that fresh perspective.

If we are comparing, the wind noise, except for during very strong cross winds, is pretty much identical in my palisade with my wife's 2020 passport.

They are both louder than the Volvo my palisade replaced though
 
No doubt, was just surprised to hear a 2016 Ford Truck being used as a comparative to a near luxury halo-car for Hyundai as evidence of the wind noise not being an issue. Our comparison would be our 2013 Jeep GC and my Mother-in-law’s 2019 Cherokee, both of which are quieter than the Palisade. The 2013 now has 93K miles on it, btw.
