I don’t know if Apple carplay is the same as android auto but thats pretty much what I do everyday. Either Waze or Google maps with iHeartRadio, XM etc playing. When I get in and turn the car on with phone plugged in the screen just defaults to the nav I had up previously and the music also does the same. Then I just control music from wheel switches.
thanks it worked- also I had the car on accessory and got a battery discharge warning on the middle screen, I’ve gotten this b4 but was not on this forum to see the reason for that message-any idea on that?

I just wish that while in Android auto (usually using Waze), I could get the 1/3 of the screen with the Android Auto logo replaced with the radio station info from SiriusXM.
You can. Enable split screen mode in the settings and you'll be able to use one of the built-in widgets on the empty 1/3 of the screen. One of them is media info.
Same widgets that you get when you split the screen 2/3 - 1/3 with the built-in functions (outside of CarPlay/AA).
EDIT: You can do the above, as long as your software has the May update. If not, you need to update (search for the map update threads on this forum).
