I can't say for sure when the change will be made to fix this problem, but automakers do make changes to specific parts during the same model year if there is a clear problem. They don't wait until the end of the model year to fix something, unless you are talking about a major change, or something that will change the specifications of the vehicle. Sometimes they may wait longer than the next model year if they haven't figured out how to fix it.I certainly hope not, but we are probably only months away from the 2021 models to come out, so![]()
This is evident when looking at the Hyundai parts catalog online (dealers who sell parts online) and seeing part number changes in the middle of the model year based on VIN number, not just model year.
One reason to not make the change right away is that if only a small number of people complain, and they already have a lot of the old parts on hand, and don't want to throw them away. But they have to figure out how much it will cost them to go back a do warranty work to fix the problem after the fact, which can be quite expensive in terms of labor.
